As a Product Manager at Optum, you will oversee the activities related to inbound product definition. Your main role will involve creating functional specifications (Capabilities, features, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria) based on input from customers, whether they are internal or external. You will lead the detailed requirements, specifications, and prioritization of features for the product. Collaboration with stakeholders will be essential to outline product roadmaps, as you will provide both technical and market insights throughout the process. You will possess expertise in the product’s overall capabilities and will work in close partnership with the development team to ensure a successful product launch.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Closely collaborate with both onsite and offshore teams to analyze requirements and design solutions
- Take a prominent role in overseeing the product backlog, developing user stories, and approving feature acceptance, all while following the agile methodology established for project management
- Engage with the engineering team to evaluate capabilities and alternatives, taking ownership of defining and prioritizing product releases
- Produce release notes, create demo scripts, and conduct feature demonstrations for stakeholders, as well as product demonstrations for stakeholders and clients
- Establish and drive the product strategy and roadmap for the products
- Effectively communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to the engineering team as necessary
- Work in conjunction with UX and the engineering team to influence product design
- Independently identify and access pertinent data to construct persuasive business cases
- Prioritize the backlog at both the feature and user story levels, possessing a thorough understanding of each feature
- Take proactive measures based on feedback received during retrospective meetings
- Recognize potential issues and proactively formulate mitigation strategies
- Foster and promote a culture of innovation within the portfolio
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
Required Qualifications:
- Proficient in Rally/Jira or similar project management tools, as well as AHA and comparable requirements tools
- Proven to function as a “Feature CEO” for the Product. The Product Manager should have a comprehensive understanding of the Healthcare sector, the core prescription adjudication system, the prescription specialty subsystem, and the prescription member workflow.
- Proven adept at defining the technical and functional aspects of the product roadmap.
- Proven to collaborate with the stakeholder team to understand business requirements, convert them into capabilities, features, and user stories, and oversee the product backlog and planning.
- Proven capable of developing wireframes, acceptance criteria, and user stories.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) or Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) degree, with or without a Master of Business Administration (MBA), or a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), or any other relevant Allied Healthcare Bachelor’s Degree, along with an MBA and a solid understanding of Business Analyst or Product Owner roles. Or Candidates with MCA
- 7+ years of experience in the IT industry, including 5+ years of experience specifically in the healthcare informatics sector
- Proven background in healthcare who do not hold an MBA may also be considered, provided they meet the other specified criteria
- Proven solid logical reasoning abilities and effective communication skills.
