The HL7 Interface Engineer is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting HL7 interfaces between customers, both external and internal, and Optum's integration platforms. The Engineer will work in a team but will have individual assignments that he/she will work on independently.

Engineers are expected to work under aggressive schedules, be self-sufficient, work within established standards, and be able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously. Candidates must be willing to work in a 24/7 environment and will be on-call as needed for critical issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Analyze data exchange requirements
• Build, test, and document interfaces
• Troubleshoot issues in existing interfaces
• Develop and enhance existing processes for building interfaces
• Support project calls/meetings, Interact with customers
• Develop and deploy interface code as needed
• Perform maintenance tasks as needed in the interface environment
• Implementation Activities:
  • Interface Analysis
  • Interface Design, Development, and Delivery
  • Interface Validation
  • Interface Go-Live and Transition to Support
  • Provider Enrollments
  • Enhancements / maintenance as assigned
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of HL7 experience (version 2.x / version 3)
• 2+ years of HL7 Integration Engine experience
• 2+ years of interface support / troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of XML / JSON
• Knowledge of SQL / T-SQL
• Proven good oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to collaborate with internal resources and lead projects

Preferred Qualifications:

• HL7 Integration Engine experience with InterSystems Ensemble / IRIS, Infor Cloverleaf, or NextGen Mirth
• Development / scripting language experience with Perl or TCL. Others like JavaScript, KSH, etc.
• Knowledge of CDA (Clinical Document Architecture) standards
• Working knowledge of Network Connectivity / VPN / Firewall / TCP/IP
