This Technical Product Manager will lead our product strategy for payment technologies to ensure a best-in-class payment experience for our card holders. The product manager will work across business and operations, end user application stakeholders to build and deliver on the the needed API packages.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • As a leader in the product management space, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our API platform and driving key business objectives
  • Lead the development and execution of the product strategy for the API platform team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, and business development to define and prioritize product features and enhancements
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify industry trends and customer needs, and use this information to inform product roadmap decisions
  • Own the end-to-end product development process, including ideation, requirements gathering, design, testing, and launch
  • Define and track key performance metrics to measure the success and impact of the API platform
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products that meet customer needs and business objectives
  • Act as the key point of contact for all product-related inquiries and provide clear communication to stakeholders at all levels
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the API platform team
  • Mentor and develop junior product managers, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their roles
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for product innovation
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to create product messaging and positioning that effectively communicates the value and benefits of the API platform
  • Manage product budgets and resources effectively to ensure the successful delivery of products within allocated resources
  • Act as a customer advocate, gathering feedback and insights to inform product decisions and improve the overall user experience
  • Monitor and analyze product performance and make data-driven decisions to drive product improvements and optimizations

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years as a product manager experience, including experience in defining, owning, and managing product design and roadmap. Preferably in the financial services or fintech industry, with a track record of progressive leadership and achievement. Card (Credit and Debit) Issuing risk management experience preferred including Strategy and rule ownership
  • 5+ years of experience in software product development, specifically with technical products like APIs as a Product Manager, Product owner, business analyst, or equivalent role
  • 3+ years of experience with platform migration and vendor integrations
  • 3+ years as a Product Owner/ Business Analyst with real-world experience working with APIs, targeted for Developers
  • 3+ years of performing product strategy, market insights, industry study, and client goals
  • 3+ years of supporting the API Platform and Developer Experience product team to analyze needs of the consuming applications to understand and articulate API needs
  • 3+ years of experience in API Technologies (e.g.: Open API 3.0, REST/JSON and SOAP/XML, API tools)
  • 3+ years of experience in agile methodologies, e.g. Scrum, SAFe, with competence to write concise user stories to communicate with the Engineering teams and to ensure feasibility

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Fintech, healthcare, health insurance or any one or combination thereof
  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to assess priorities and influence roadmaps
  • Experience using data analysis tools (e.g., A|B test software, Tableau) and/or scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python) to inform product decisions.
  • Experience in technical stack, platform architecture, and software integration design, and APIs
  • Skilled and experienced using Agile/Scrum or similar methodologies, Jira, writing user stories, and managing backlog

  • Proficiency and experience developing and optimizing Structured Query Language (SQL) to analyze and query data
  • Proficient in designing and documenting user flows and workflows to support application development
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching products in an Agile environment
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with non-technical and technical people inside and outside the organization
  • Demonstrated exceptional product roadmap creation & execution skills
  • Demonstrated technical skills to translate business requirements into terms that developers can understand
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills; written, verbal and formal presentation
  • Proven to be detail oriented with critical thinking skills – ability to break down initiative-level requirements into feature and story attribute level details
  • Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously; strategic thinking with ability to build solid working relationships across organizational teams in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Proven ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C. Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
