This position supports senior leadership within the Optum Health organization, with responsibility for developing and maintaining financial reports across the entire Optum Health business. Optum Health reporting will also be provided to Optum and UHG finance leadership teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain financial reports to clearly communicate actual results, forecasted performance, and variances to plan, forecast and budget
  • Develop, perform and manage all aspects of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Produce clear, well-formatted reports and presentations that communicate a clear, compelling message for management
  • Assist with management reporting and system reconciliation
  • Support SG&A and IT Finance in reporting and analytics
  • Understand the Optum Health financial process and become an active participant in the management of its financials
  • Assist with periodic forecast and budget creation for business leadership
  • Analyze trends in revenue, product line profitability, membership, SG&A and other areas of business
  • Participate on special projects and ad hoc financial requests

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, Economics or equivalent work experience 
  • 6+ months of Financial or Analytical experience (academic or professional) 
  • Intermediate skills in MS Excel, MS Office product suite 
  • Financial acumen and P&L management skills 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience
  • Solid Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills 
  • Experience using Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials
  • Proven solid interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven to be detail oriented; strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities, deadlines and changing priorities
  • Proven to possess initiative, be a self-starter, self-directed, highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
