As the Associate Director of People Development for the UHG Early Careers organization, you will be responsible for driving the global early career strategy for the India market.  The role will also include exploring the early career expansion opportunities in markets such as Philippines, United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico.  You will work closely across UHG Early Careers, the People Team, and local market business leaders to ensure that we have an effective early career strategy in place by country to help us meet our early career mission to attract, develop, and deploy a set of individuals through full-time, internship, co-op, and apprenticeship programs worldwide.  Early career programming is designed to accelerate learning and drive engagement, collaboration, and impact across the enterprise with a focus on building our next generation of healthcare leaders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Acting with a global and enterprise leadership mindset, develop and support execution of the early career strategy for each of our non-US markets (primary market is India with expansion exploration needed in markets such as Philippines, UK, and Puerto Rico)
  • Create and execute a comprehensive strategy for each non-US early careers market/country that is inclusive of recruitment approach, roles/skills/program needs, total rewards, diversity expectations, program experiences, external brand, and engagement while being rooted in industry/market research
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with India universities while driving efforts to increase Optum’s brand equity and awareness on campus
  • Proven ability to strategize and execute early career plans, manage budgeting, vendor and logistics
  • Partner with early careers talent acquisition to establish the market hiring approach and recruitment strategy for all applicable talent profiles
  • Establish partnerships with local internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on the early career talent pipeline, identify support resources (i.e. interviewers, mentors, managers, etc.), and share early career value proposition with new business areas
  • Partner with early career program, operations, and experience teams to execute the global early career strategy and to establish market-specific processes, reports, policies, etc. where required
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators and metrics for the global early career programs
  • Support transition to align global early careers functions into enterprise early career organization
  • Awareness of local laws, traditions, and nuances that need to be applied to our early career offerings and shared with our early career team
  • Support on site internal and campus engagement activities and events
  • Drive early career team culture and engagement in India
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors / PG degree in any stream
  • 12+ years experience with talent acquisition in India with exposure to technology recruitment
  • 5+ years experience building resource development and/or early career strategies/programs
  • Demonstrated ability to establish Solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence and partner with senior leaders and business partners globally
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic, and complex environment with the flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and demands
  • Must be located in India though hybrid work model permitted
  • Must be willing to travel across locations in India
  • Must work well in matrix org structure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with talent acquisition tools – Taleo and Salesforce
  • Solid customer focus and service orientation with the ability to deliver solutions that service multiple stakeholder groups
