This position is responsible for greeting and welcoming patients in person.  Provides a standard registration process by collecting demographic and financial data and enters information into the electronic medical record. Collaborates with leader to ensure the team operations are staffed and working effectively.

Location: 333 Smith Ave, Saint Paul, MN 55102

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greets and welcomes patient in person
  • Collects demographic and insurance information
  • Checks in or interviews patient to complete appropriate paperwork
  • Directs patient to their appointment or procedure
  • Uses resources, tools and procedure to complete registration for complex accounts
  • Verifies eligible and benefits information for payers and interprets results focusing on complex billing situations
  • Obtains cost information and explains information to patient as necessary
  • Collect co-pay or deductibles
  • Assists and counsels patient with application process for available financial assistance programs
  • Uses resources tools and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues
  • Collaborates with leader to ensure the team operations are staffed and working effectively
  • Coordinates the workflow among the employees within the work area and informs management regarding the operational needs of the department
  • Directs and checks the work of others
  • Participates in the orientation and training of employees and provides feedback to leadership
  • Provides technical and functional guidance to employees
  • May act as a back-up for all positions
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of Revenue Cycle or health insurance experience
  • 2+ years of customer service experience
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Excel
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to work 8-hour days, 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri from 6:30am – 3:00pm
  • Ability to work weekends as needed, 8-hour days from 6:30AM – 3:00PM 
  • Ability to occasionally work on call & report to work within 30 minutes as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience
  • Epic experience
  • Financial Counseling experience

Physical Demands:

  • Consistent walking, standing, bending, turning, etc.
  • Lifting weight Up to 10 lbs. occasionally, up to 2-5 lbs. frequently
