We are actively seeking a highly skilled Manager, Analytic Svcs with specialized expertise in relational databases and Snowflake. With over 10 years of experience in data analytics, the ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of data architecture and management, particularly in SQL Server, MySQL, and Snowflake environments. This pivotal role involves leading complex projects, mentoring junior engineers, and leveraging advanced cloud technologies to optimize data processes.

 

This position will support the Commercial Actuarial team by creating the data foundation and support the necessary models for delivery.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Proven track record of designing effective data strategies and leveraging modern data architectures that resulted in business value  
  • Design and build data pipelines to process terabytes of data
  • Design and build best in class processes to clean and standardize data
  • Advancing the team’s DataOps culture (CI/CD, Orchestration, Testing, Monitoring) and building out standard development patterns
  • Hands on experience on the following technologies:
  • Developing processes in Spark 
  • Writing complex SQL queries
  • Building ETL/data pipelines 
  • Exposure to Kubernetes and Linux containers (i.e. Docker) 
  • Related/complementary open source software platforms and languages (e.g. Scala, Python, Java, Linux)
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and robust data management systems focusing on relational databases and Snowflake
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries and database solutions using SQL Server and MySQL
  • Utilize Python and R to build and maintain efficient data pipelines and integrate diverse data sources
  • Manage cloud-based data strategies, incorporating services like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud to enhance data functionality and accessibility
  • Document all data architecture solutions and effectively communicate strategies and results across the organization
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior data engineers, fostering skill development and professional growth
  • Collaborate with data scientists and business analysts to support data infrastructure needs and troubleshoot complex issues
  • Develop and present advanced data visualizations and reports using tools like Power BI to drive business insights
  • Lead end-to-end projects from requirements gathering to solution deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in data analytics (SQL Server, MySQL, and Snowflake)
  • 7+ years of experience developing with SQL, Python, and R
  • 7+ years of experience leading projects and mentoring junior team members 
  • 7+ years of experience working in projects with agile/scrum methodologies
  • 5+ years of experience with Databricks and Power BI
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) deploying and managing data services
  • Experience managing large datasets and complex data structures
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, capable of conveying complex data-related concepts to non-technical stakeholders

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry knowledge and experience
  • Familiarity with production quality ML and/or AI model development and deployment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
