The Mountain West Accounting Team, part of Optum Care, is seeking an Senior Accountant with strong Excel and analytical skills to work on their Revenue team. This position will work within the local Finance department and partner with teams across Optum. Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports
• Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close   
• Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
• Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
• Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
• Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position
• Assist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups
• Perform work in a self-directed manner and works with less structured, more complex issues
• Serve as a resource to others
• Assess and interprets customer needs and requirements
• Identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems
• Solve moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses
• Demonstrate solid understanding of how purchasing, receiving, and paying impact balance sheet accounts and cost of goods sold

Required Qualifications:        

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
• 2+ years of professional accounting experience
• Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-Lookups)

 

Preferred Qualifications:        

• CPA or Master of Accounting
• Oracle or other ERP experience
• Healthcare experience
• Experience with Hyperion Essbase, PeopleSoft Financials, and Microsoft Access

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
