Software Engineering Lead – Java

Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy Java-based applications using Azure Function Apps, Microservices architecture, Kafka, and Spring Boot
- Collaborate with cross-functional team to define, design, and ship new features
- Analyze system logs, monitor performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement in application stability and performance, specifically related to Java Spring Boot and microservices
- Write efficient, testable, and reusable code
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
- Implement security and data protection measures
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems
- Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge
- Work on integration of various azure services to support Microservices architecture and real-time data streaming with Kafka
- Participate in incident management processes, including root cause analysis, incident response, and post-mortem reviews for Java Spring Boot and microservice-related incidents
- Identify opportunities for automation and implement tools and scripts to streamline production support tasks related to Java Spring Boot and microservices
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, helping them develop technical skills and troubleshoot complex issues related to Java Spring Boot and microservices effectively

Eligibility
To apply to an internal job, employees must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 12 months in the current Role/Grade/Level
- Not on Active CAP at the time of applying for the IJP
- Employees currently at Grade 26 will move to the next grade and Grade 27 (Lateral Movement) can apply for this position
- Last Review rating of Meets Expectations or Exceeds Expectations
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- 8 + years of relevant IT experience (Agile, Production Support)
- Proven hands-on software development experience with Java(>=Jdk11)
- Proven experience working in a production support role
- Solid experience with Azure Function Apps and serverless architecture
- Extensive experience with Microservices architecture
- Solid experience with Apache Kafka for real-time data streaming
- Experience with cloud services, particularly Microsoft Azure
- Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of Azure services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Storage, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Cosmos DB
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web services
- Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment(CI/CD) practices and tools such as Azure DevOps
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
- Proficiency in Java and Java EE technologies
