The Regional Manager of Materials Management – is responsible for the smooth operations of the Materials Management locations of Acadia Hospital, NLH Home Office, Eastern Maine Medical Center and AR Gould Hospital.  Specifically, this position will focus on the functions of perpetual inventory, Periodic Automated Replenishment (PAR) locations, and Receiving functions. This role will play a vital role in ensuring that the ERP system is updated for contract compliance from a Northern Light Health perspective. Development of standard procedures to be implemented throughout all Northern Light Health locations will be key to our success. Moreover, the ability to work in a strategic manner in accomplishment of Supply Chain goals will be optimal for the successful candidate.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrates and understanding of NLH information systems applications, including, Infor and Mobile Supply Chain Management
  • Leads hospital teams in accomplishment of rapid changing directives.  Including conversions, recalls, etc
  • Ensures proper initial education of Infor Requesters through coordination and education standards
  • Uses remote meeting technology to maximize leadership of geographic territory
  • Identifies and works on Standard Operating Procedures for team workflow development
  • Works collaboratively with other areas in a solution-oriented approach
  • Ensures Recalls are worked through, and documentation is saved in a standardized manner.  Works with team to develop solutions to recall related supply issues
  • Ensures Cycle Count workflows are followed to ensure appropriate audit performance of perpetual inventory locations
  • Participates in the Northern Light Health Member Organization budgetary process focused on accuracy and fiscal wellness
  • Works with Member Organization Departmental Leaders on education of all Supply Chain functions, such as, Contracting, Value Analysis, and Procurement
  • Develops succession planning work for future success of management areas
  • Communicates effectively with customers and staff throughout all areas of Optum and Northern Light Health
  • Participates and leads as part of the Northern Light Health Emergency Preparedness leadership team
  • Works as an On-Call for leadership areas during off-hour needs
  • Demonstrates effective time management skills
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled, unless prior authorization has been granted or effort has been made to communicate unscheduled or emergency absence
  • Leads teams in development of workable implementation plans; communicates changes effectively; builds commitment and overcomes barriers
  • Demonstrates desire to continuously learn, develop, and present new educational material
  • Enhances professional growth with participation in conferences and education activities of staff, peers, and customers
  • Provides excellent customer service
  • Patient focus in service delivery to ensure staff have the tools necessary for goal accomplishment

  • Identifies and leads through workflow development for departmental efficiencies, cost-savings initiatives, and customer service
  • Leads through systems testing processes to ensure successful go-live of initiatives
  • Focuses on appropriate logistical supply flow while ensuring we are following contracted method of supplies being obtained
  • Manages 3rd party logistical company agreements to ensure a maximized relationship related to cost associated
  • Manages distributor Value Added Service model to include cross-docking, receiving, and inventory work provided
  • Work closely with NLH Contracting & Sourcing, Value Analysis, and Procurement and Logistics to align priorities
  • Development, reporting, and maintenance of productivity and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for areas of oversight
  • Leads projects through completion with tracking of cost avoidance, savings, and customer service improvements
  • Leads adoption through Optum Change Management principles
  • Reports out monthly on budgetary variances that are outside the normal acceptance range
  • Leads through rewards and recognition of staff
  • Leads through accountability of staff when needed
  • Requires up to 15% job travel within the state of Maine
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience with Materials Management
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership capacity
  • Experience and knowledge of Supply Chain practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer advanced techniques of MS Word Power Point, and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse people, excellent human relation skills and customer service skills
  • Ability to travel to within the state of Maine (15% of the time) to NLH locations

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of contemporary business practices acquired through major coursework in business, leadership, management, finance, or administration
  • Knowledge of Patient Safety and Regulatory Standards, Healthcare Policy, and Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines
  • Experience with ERP systems operations knowledge preferred; Infor Cloud Suite ERP

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
