The Senior Manager, Digital Product – Data Governance role within the Consumer Product Office will be responsible for the successful management of data and capabilities that make up the Consumer Engagement Platform (CEP). The CEP encompasses the technology needed to conduct both member engagement initiatives and prospecting campaigns, contributing to the overall financial success of the enterprise. The Senior Manager, Digital Product – Data Governance plays an advisory role to Product Owners, ensuring the delivery of value to the business.

Specifically, this role will thoroughly understand the needs of business stakeholders while balancing them against technical and operational considerations of the platform. Insights from this understanding will be used to manage the overall end user experience, provide platform governance to ensure alignment with best practices and legal guidelines, and support line of business needs. He/she will contribute to the success of the overall platform and therefore needs to partner closely with key stakeholders in Product Management, Operations, Marketing, Engineering and Enterprise Architecture. This role ensures oversight and visibility to new or enhanced capabilities and data requests initiated by lines of business, partners closely with Operations to understand platform impacts, and manages the capability process.

This leader will work with key business and IT partners on data and technology requests and considerations impacting the CEP. Skills the role must leverage are strategic thinking, product model process, knowledge of marketing technology concepts, business acumen, cross-functional collaboration, data management best practices, and a clear understanding of key business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • While advising a team of Product Owners, you will work with key business and IT partners to understand upcoming requests for technologies impacting the CEP
  • You will manage the MDP Data Governance process and provide an avenue for visibility and discussion regarding new requests impacting the CEP
  • You will provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to other team members involved in governance activities
  • You will provide Product oversight and keep up to date on operational activities that may impact the overall health of the CEP

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in business, healthcare or technology OR 4+ years of computer science experience
  • 5+ years of experience with managing technology and a deep understanding of product strategy, data management, and industry best practices
  • 5+ years of experience with proven ability to effectively break down barriers to maintain progress on initiatives
  • 5+ years of experience working with Agile/Scrum work environment with an understanding of user stories and can follow the development process through user story acceptance 
  • 5+ years of experience with continually collecting and analyzing performance data (e.g., operational) in order to identify new opportunities for the business
  • 5+ years of experience with engaging key clients for strategic discussions on business value, technology goals, compliance and legal issues, and overall product strategy
  • 5+ years of experience with proven excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication with both technical and business audiences 
  • 5+ years of experience demonstrating strategic thinking by using appropriate information to diagnose problems, identify possible solutions and collaborate with impacted groups to drive decisions 
  • 5+ years of experience being self-directed and driving detailed solutions to completion with minimal oversight
  • 5+ years of experience with excellent follow through, attention to detail, and time management skills
  • 5+ years of experience with developing a deep understanding of the customer and product needs
  • 5 years of experience with representing both Business and Product during team interactions
  • 5 years of experience with CA Rally or Aha
  • Expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Deep knowledge of marketing technology
  • Proven success in developing complex product strategies and plans
  • Experience in complex, matrix organizations; knows how to get things done both through formal channels and the informal network
  • Ability to effectively deal with levels of ambiguity—can effectively cope with change, can shift gears comfortably, can decide and act without having the total picture, comfortably handles risk and uncertainty
  • Strong analytical abilities, organization and project/process management skills.
  • Good negotiation, problem solving, planning and decision-making skills.  Accurately scopes out projects, sets objectives and goals, develops schedules and resource assignments, measures performance against goals, and evaluates results
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to manage projects simultaneously and achieve goals.  Uses resources effectively and efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the organization

Residents Only: The hourly range for California, Colorado, Nevada, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Washington or Washington, D.C. residents is $104,700 to $190,400 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
