We are seeking a senior AI/ML Engineer who is passionate about solving challenging problems. In this role, you will be an essential part of our AI team, focusing on translating ambiguous and complex business challenges into well-defined problem formulations. You will lead efforts in research, development and deployment of cutting-edge AI/ML solutions, utilizing technologies such as NLP, deep learning models and LLMs.

 

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Use AI/ML technologies to innovate current Optum operations. The tasks of innovation include, but not limited to: Smart revenue management, Intelligent payment platform, medical chart processing, medical code generation, medical image processing, etc.
  • Work closely with business and operations to understand the business requirements. To be able convert ambiguous requirements to AI solutions
  • Have solid implementation skills to the proposed solutions and work closely with engineering team to create product pipelines that are scalable and flexible
  • Willing to work in an agile and fast-moving working environment
  • Passion for learning and innovating at new AI technologies that can facilitate future projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Math/Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, bioinformatics or other technical fields with profound mathematical training
  • 3+ years of experience in understanding business problems and formulating AI solutions
  • 3+ years of experience in one of the scripting languages, such as: Java, Python, SQL, PySpark, C++
  • 3+ years of experience in NLP, image processing, Generative AI, etc.
  • Experience developing and deploying models in one of cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects from start to completion with minimal guidance
  • Ability to communicate the results of analysis in a clear and effective manner

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Math/Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Bioinformatics or other technical fields

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
