As an Associate Software Engineer, you will be part of the development group within the Provider Data Ireland team. Your responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, and advancing our Provider Data Platform and related products. The main objective of the platform is to unlock Provider Data within the organization and to make this data easily and quickly accessible across the organization. This will be achieved through process standardization, automation, creation of development tools, and assistance with integration into other products.

The candidate suitable for this role should be technically proficient with a strong foundation in computer science, experienced in modern software development practices, and skilled in automation and security compliance. Additionally, they should be a good team player with effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities of an Associate Software Engineer:

  • Programming:
    • Responsible for programming and developing innovative solutions.
  • Automation:
    • Contribute to the automation of repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and minimize manual intervention.
    • Assist in managing CI/CD pipelines for deploying infrastructure changes using tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Adhere to security best practices to ensure the infrastructure is secure and compliant with organizational policies and standards.
  • Troubleshooting and Support:
    • Collaborate with team members and other departments to diagnose and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and data management.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications.
    • Actively participate in team meetings, code reviews, and collaborative planning sessions to enhance project outcomes.

Required Qualifications of an Associate Software Engineer:

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Proficient in Java, Scala, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages.
    • Proven experience in developing and delivering production-grade software.
    • Solid experience in Test Driven Development (TDD) including writing and implementing automated tests (unit, integration, performance).
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within team environment.

Preferred Qualifications for an Associate Software Engineer:

  • Advanced Technical Skills:
    • Experience in microservices development using frameworks such as Spring Boot.
    • Familiarity with SQL and database management systems.
    • Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Hadoop.
    • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Emerging Technologies:
    • Exposure to AI-assisted software development techniques.
