Positions in this function provides project level input and coordination, including; clinical research study feasibility consultation, protocol optimization, site identification, comparative site analysis, recruitment projections, contingency planning, resource allocation, data collection status, data progress and strategy, and overall reporting of metrics. Will work closely with Life Science Customers and study teams from healthcare organizations (HCOs).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides project level input and coordination for Life Science Customers, Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and HCOs, including; clincal research study feasibility consultation, site identification, comparative site analysis, recruitment projections, contingency planning, resource allocation, data collection requirements, and overall reporting of metrics
  • Reviews customer opportunities and potential projects inlight of site capabilities and experience, uses proprietary tools to identify eligible patient populations based on clinical research study inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Leads proactive identification and assessment of proposed projects 
  • Establishes and maintains successful collaboration and partnerships with customers, CROs, third party vendors, research sites, study investigators and site research personnel to expand future opportunities
  • Participates in and contributes to protocol review and study design sessions with Life Science customers and CROs, consulting with HCOs/healthcare providers as applicable.
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of all patient information used for feasibility determination in accordance with UHG policies and government regulations
  • Facilitates strategic decisions to optimize implementation of projects specific to project complexity, potentially eligible participants, resource availability, site bandwidth and expertise
  • Anticipates potential project risks and develops mitigation strategies/plans to address more complex risk factors
  • Provides feedback to Sales and Business Development Team on capacity, feasibility and industry trends
  • Presents and communicates recommendations for opportunity pipeline maximazation
    to senior level clinical and business leadership
  • Assists with deck creation for external life science customers and maintains brand compliant base template          
  • Uses tact and diplomacy to resolve conflicts across project team members and customers
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and understanding of project management standards used to balance resourcing, service capabilities and departmental expertise against demand and to participate in meetings and discussions as needed to disseminate relevant information in support of business growth decisions
  • Defines, tracks and reports, interdependencies, achievements, repeat business, business and customer base expansion

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years project management experience preferably using MS Project and/or other project management tools
  • 5+ years of clinical study experience, (e.g., pharmaceutical, medical device, IVD, biotechnology, CRO) including understanding of site capabilities, trial requirements and Principal Investigator qualifications and the proven ability to oversee clinical teams in the conduct and report of multicenter, complex studies
  • 2+ years of experience working with customers and vendors
  • Knowledge of clinical trial concepts and practices, including clinical research guidelines
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology; diagnoses codes, medications, procedures, encounters and labs
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management standards used to develop and maintain integrated project plans (scope/work packages, time/schedule, cost/material and human resource, quality, communication/escalation, risk, value) and organizes/facilitates meetings and discussions as needed

  • Proven ability to work effectively, independently with multi-level teams, manage multiple projects and work in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Demonstrated and effective interpersonal, communications and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences
  • Proven ability to learn and adapt to new software tools and technology
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a virtual environment

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
