We are looking for an experienced product management leader of digital products with proven results and a passion for innovation to serve as the Sr. Director of Product Management for the Clinical Assistant (CA) Product portfolio. Optum’s Clinical Assistant is built to provide clinicians with easy access to seamless clinical decision support (CDS) that enables users to practice medicine on the latest evidence, delivering care that’s tailored to a patient’s unique circumstances. The ideal candidate for the Sr. Director of Product Management for Clinical Assistant should be an experienced product management leader of digital products with proven results and a passion for innovation. In this leadership role, you will own the product strategy, delivery and innovation roadmap on behalf of our clients and ongoing advancement of the CA product capabilities to drive business growth.   

The Sr. Director of Product Management for Clinical Assistant will own the product development lifecycle for the emerging CA portfolio.  As the overall product lead, this role will lead cross-functional resources representing technical product management, engineering, finance, and client enablement. Interaction with Optum Health care delivery organizations and external provider client partners will be critical to drive the development of solutions. You will design a go-to-market strategy anchored on enabling our clients to achieve outcomes and partner with cross-functional leadership to build and deploy clinical capabilities that enable us to develop and innovate best in class Clinical Decision Support technology and services.  Additionally, you will look for opportunities to enable value-driving synergies across complimentary clinical decision support applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the strategic direction of the Clinical Assistant product portfolio
  • Responsible for CA lifecycle management, including strategy, design, development, management, and end of life of new, existing or acquisition products
  • Develop and oversee development of prioritized list of new features and capabilities for the product that will drive clinical and financial value to clients.  Codify understanding of how new features/capabilities contribute to overall value story (clinical and financial) and user satisfaction
  • Own end-to-end platform development process and roadmap execution to achieve growth and IOI targets for CA products
  • Management of capex and opex budget process and execution for development and maintenance across the portfolio
  • Key contributor for CA financial performance and own the P&L to achieve overall business objectives, including creating short and long-term product strategies to support business growth, revenue, and operating income targets and ongoing management for profitability
  • Accountable for delivering product performance against expectations and updates to a portfolio to improve competitive position, and optimal performance to meet customer market needs
  • Provides leadership, management, coaching and/or mentoring to CA product team and adjacent teams supporting the CA product
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our solutions competitive positioning and of the competitive offerings in the US and in other global markets where we serve health systems and payers
  • Define external and internal partnership needs and manage vendor relationships

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years healthcare industry experience
  • 5+ years of direct product management experience with health technology products
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams, including hiring, managing, and developing both individual contributors and people leaders
  • Extensive experience in the healthcare industry, particularly with products involving EHR integration
  • Extensive experience in strategy development, user centered design and leveraging learnings to identify new features and capabilities
  • Experience with UX/UI best practices, SEO, web analytics, and digital marketing principles
  • Experience in designing a multitude of innovation opportunities including partnerships, pilots, and product / user testing and experiments
  • Experience with clinical practice and EMR driven workflows, including integration strategies and interoperability
  • Proficient in FHIR, CQL, and other HL7 standards
  • Deep understanding of EHRs and clinical products
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, innovative consumer experiences at scale
  • Proven ability to drive alignment across senior executives, business leads and technical leads
  • Open to up to 25% travel when necessary 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AI-derived products
  • Proven ability to drive alignment in matrixed organization and ability to influence at all levels of the organization

The salary range for this role is $150,200 to $288,500 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
