The primary responsibility of the Senior Analytic Solutions Advisor is to cultivate analytic solutions for Payment Integrity Decision Intelligence (PIDI) Analytics deployment in partnership with OPI Operations, Product, Technology, and Client partners at Optum Insight. A role is available to support the prepay Data Mining product (CCM) for the Non-Clinical business. By fostering strong internal partnerships within PIDI and gaining a thorough understanding of stakeholders’ capabilities, strategies, and financial and operational goals, the Senior Analytic Solutions Advisor helps PIDI Analytics develop and execute on strategy while aligning to key business objectives. The role plays a vital part in initiating and implementing innovative analytic solutions to achieve strategic goals, and in advocating the business to adopt analytic products and services to realize their true value in terms of savings, efficiency, and knowledge.

The Senior Analytic Solutions Advisor will act as an ambassador for the PIDI strategy and help clarify business needs, understanding problem statements and developing solutions. The Advisor will effectively position PIDI POD delivery groups to address the key priorities of business partners’ and clients’ objectives. An understanding of internal capabilities such as Data Science, Core Analytics, Infrastructure/Engineering, as well as a technical knowledge of analytic specifics and ability to form strong partnerships is required. The Advisor will also work with delivery leads and a support team to manage the roadmap of analytics projects, ensuring that business objectives and strategies are planned and met.

The Senior Analytic Solutions Advisor will stay abreast of analytics developments in the enterprise and industry and communicate as needed. In addition, when appropriate, the Advisor will help coordinate implementation of programs and solutions, collaborate across the enterprise on new product offerings, assist with quality and performance management and guide a stakeholder communication strategy.

 Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Partner with the business and analytic teams to develop/implement/maintain an analytics strategy to achieve business goals. 
  • Establish strong matrixed relationships with internal and external stakeholders to define, align, and execute on analytic solutions to support new Payment Integrity savings and benefits.  
  • Provide oversight of complex analytic initiatives, providing timely and meaningful client updates 
  • Identify and research key industry, company and operations issues and provide insight to the teams 
  • Develop and maintain the analytic roadmap for the assigned area, keep aligned with full portfolio 
  • Provide industry insight and thought leadership to business and analytics teams to assist the team to achieve business and analytics goals offerings  
  • Engage with innovation and growth teams to execute programs with analytics aspects 
  • Develop executive analytic presentations / materials, coordinate complex analytic requests, and support the analytic planning process to drive performance 
  • Act quickly to seize opportunities to leverage analytic services in innovative and new ways that drive broader and deeper value for our clients 
  • Create programs which provide awareness and understanding of our advanced analytic services and how they compare to industry best practices 
  • Develop streamlined path to escalate and resolve analytic process and complex performance issues 
  • Participate in demonstrations and sales presentations as needed 
  • Leverage analytics to identify quality issues and drive to solutions 
  • Diagnose opportunities for, and promote process reengineering, automation, quality, and efficiency endeavors  

The successful candidate will be a data-oriented Payment Integrity analytics professional with proven experience driving and communicating analytic solutions targeted toward growth. Those best suited for this position have strong Payment Integrity, analytic, communication and relationship-building skills, with a problem-solving mindset and an innovative approach. The role requires the ability to discuss and manage analytic deliverables at a rapid pace in a highly matrixed environment. This position requires a leader who is passionate about delivering maximum value from Optum’s PIDI Analytics through the collaboration with matrix partners and clients.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Experience with analytics and data science organization or role 
  • Experience working in a matrixed and high change environment handling tight deadlines 
  • Problem solving mindset. Ability to identify the root cause of an issue, break it down into smaller components, and develop a clear and effective solution.  
  • Ability to assess operational challenges and identify technical and analytical solutions to the problems 
  • Ability to translate complex analytic results into meaningful insight for maximum customer impact and influence 
  • Self-managed, self-starter, able to work in rapidly changing environment 
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills 
  • Ability to establish credibility and build relationships at all levels  
  • Highly collaborative and consultative style with ability to work with all levels of management across all functional areas 
  • High energy, detailed oriented with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects to ensure their quality and on-time delivery 
  • Proactive mindset. Demonstrates initiative and creativity by originating new ideas, anticipating, and implementing next steps 
  • Excellent verbal and design/written communication skills and ability to ‘tell the story’ Using data and metrics  
  • Strong emotional intelligence and relationship-building skills 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • BA/BS degree in a science, mathematics, economics, data analytics or other related field. 
  • Experience in the Payment Integrity/ US health care industry (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial)  
  • Experience with advanced analytical techniques (e.g. predictive models, Gen-AI) used both to detect PI savings opportunities and drive efficiencies across the Payment Integrity organization 
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma process improvement methodologies
