Optical Assistant – Crystal Run Healthcare

The Optical Assistant works as part of a team to work up patients and prepare them to see the physician. They will collect routine information from new patients and follow the physician’s orders from previous visits for established patients.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Opening/closing exam rooms for the day / turning machines on/off
- Review patient’s history
- Check visual acuity
- Check eye pressures
- Medication reconciliation
- Perform visual fields
- Perform color vision test
- Perform pachymetry as needed
- Take photos of the eyes
- Document all information in the EMR
- OA will assist in prepping patients for laser procedures, injections, or foreign body removals by preparing consents and instilling drops
- Reviewing the charts ahead of time to ensure appointments are scheduled correctly
- Taking phone messages for ophthalmology during downtime

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, etc.)
- Proven solid Customer Service Skills
- Proven ability to use Computer
- Ability to work 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (38 hours) between the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm
- Ability to work in both of the following offices as needed
- 7 Hatfield Lane, Goshen, NY
- 61 Emerald Place, Rock Hill, NY
- Willing to travel to Rock Hill at least once per week, possibly more depending on staffing needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Optical Assistant Certification
- EPIC experience
- Medical Experience
The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $28.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
