The Pharmacy Care Technician will consult with patients, providers, internal departments and/or external third parties to support quality improvement programs with the following under direction of ambulatory Primary Care Pharmacist.

Location: Hybrid at 4747 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO 80303

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set up and on-going treatment plan coordination for primary care patients including co-pay assistance, ancillary products, scheduling Pharmacist consults and/or RN visits, and liaison with provider offices and retail or mail order pharmacies on labs, refill orders and prior authorizations
  • Review and advise on medications and treatment plans (based on review of medical case notes, medication list and lab results) to improve outcomes and avoid potential drug interactions
  • Discuss with patients’ life issues affecting medication adherence and provide advice on improving drug regimen compliance
  • Advise patients on alternate Rx fill strategies of retail versus mail order and options for financial assistance
  • Review medication regimens for disease states and provide summaries and guidance from clinical pharmacist on future medication plans. Advice may include alternate drug therapies, stopping a medication and/or lower cost alternatives
  • Review medical case notes to determine on-going medication treatment plan and project future medication costs
  • Complete and document medication reconciliation with patient and/or caregiver
  • Assist internal department teams in population health programs in domains related to pharmacy measures
  • Contribute to practice meetings, patient participation groups, and other meetings to improve engagement of the role of pharmacy technician and to promote issues relevant to prescribing and medicines optimization

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • Active Pharmacy Technician certification from the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy
  • 2+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in retail, mail order, ambulatory, hospital, or insurance setting
  • 2+ years of experience using an electronic health record
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
  • Ability to work on a hybrid basis, within a commutable distance to 4747 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO 80303
  • Ability to occasionally travel to other local clinics as needed (approximately 4 times per year)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with value-based care insurance pharmacy quality programs.
  • 1+ years of experience in an ambulatory clinical pharmacy setting.
  • 1+ years of experience implementing quality improvement workflows in an inpatient, outpatient, or retail pharmacy setting.
  • 1+ years of medication reconciliation work in inpatient or outpatient clinical or pharmacy setting.

 Soft Skills:

  • High level of comfortability in the majority of each day being telephonic work
  • Strong communication skills in a virtual environment
  • Ability to work independently

The salary range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
