The DevOps Lead Engineer/ Architect is a member of the DevOps Engineering Team and is responsible for the design, architecture, development, and rollout of automated infrastructure-as-code and continuous delivery mechanisms which support Optum Insight’s Stratus Imaging solution in cloud environments. The individual in this role provides subject matter expertise and technical direction to others in the team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, DevOps Engineering, you will work closely with application development and site reliability engineering teams.

 

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within Canada (expect for the Saskatchewan province) as you take on some tough challenges.

 

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, architecture, development of, and provide technical expertise for, application infrastructure in Google Cloud environments
  • Lead and guide the design of, and provide technical expertise on, reusable infrastructure as code (IaC) components
  • Lead and guide the design of, and provide technical expertise on, the automation of the deployment, configuration, and scaling, for the applications that run on the above infrastructure
  • Work closely with solutions architects to ensure all systems designed are in line with the Enterprise Imaging long-term strategy; review and advise on technical design specifications developed by junior level colleagues
  • Prototype new technology solutions
  • Automate the cybersecurity requirements and controls for deployed environments and software applications
  • Assist with the set up and maintenance of all test environments
  • Assist with the set up and maintenance of the production environment infrastructure and automation
  • Create and maintain documentation as required for maintenance and rollout of deliverables
  • Create and exercise test plans as required for deliverables
  • Analyze data from production monitoring tools and recommend changes
  • Assist in the development and implementation of DevOps policies and procedures
  • Work closely and collaboratively in an Agile environment with our product development, operations, and support teams

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software/systems engineering and/or software/solution architecture
  • 5+ years of experience and proven record of success with continuous delivery of cloud infrastructure and applications for enterprise SaaS or PaaS companies in public clouds such as AWS, GCP, Azure
  • 5+ years of experience with programming and scripting, particularly Bash and Python
  • 5+ years of proven working experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly Kubernetes
  • 5+ years proven working experience with Terraform

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of automation and configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Kustomize)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of software containers, preferably Docker
  • Proven solid background in Linux and Windows administration
  • Proven solid knowledge of network implementation, configuration, and monitoring
  • Proven solid English communication skills (verbal and written) to interact effectively with peers and stakeholders
  • Proven solid critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience with HIPAA compliance and the security of PHI data
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Healthcare IT standards as well as with Healthcare workflows

 

Canada Residents Only: The salary range for Canada residents is $98,900 to $205,500 annually.
