Optum Health Analytics is putting data-driven insight at the core of decision-making, activating intelligence through the connection of critical data assets and the delivery of strategic and operational analytics.  For the Director of Strategic Analytics role, we are looking for a high performing candidate to fill a leadership position on our fun, fast paced, and growing team.  The Director’s core responsibility will be to lead a team of data analysts in creating actionable analyses across various business domains, achieving success through thoughtful strategy-centric output above large data sets.  In this player/coach role, the candidate will work closely with C-suite leaders (CEO, CFO, COO & CMO) and their respective teams, both locally in the markets and Optum nationally, to deliver business value and influence decision making.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, explain, and execute analytical strategies to support organizational goals, identifying opportunities to improve operations and strategically grow our portfolio
  • Managing a team of analysts to organize and analyze large data sets using statistical and data visualization tools while keeping up with the pace of the business
  • Identifying trends and patterns in the data to provide insights that can inform business decisions
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders and departments (finance, operations, clinical, capabilities, etc.) to identify business needs and develop data-driven solutions while communicating findings and recommendations to influence outcomes
  • Staying up to date with the latest data analytics techniques and tools and recommending new approaches as needed
  • Managing multiple analytical engagements across different audiences, meeting tight timelines as we put speed and scale at the forefront
  • Leading the development and implementation of Optum Health’s data analytics strategy while mentoring and coaching team members to develop their skills and advance their careers
  • Possess both sharpened technical and interpersonal skills with emphases on; quick learner, curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to influence large audiences

 

The ideal candidate for a Director of Strategic Analytics position should have a strong background in data analytics, including experience with statistical analysis, data visualization, and data modeling. They should also have experience managing teams and collaborating with other departments to develop data-driven solutions. Solid communication and storytelling are a must for this role.

Required Qualifications:        

  • Track record of progressive growth with at least 8 years of experience in data analytics or a related field
  • Expertise in analytical tools (e.g. Power BI), strong understanding of data modeling, and familiarity of database management systems and data warehousing
  • Basic Understanding of SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure or comparable
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences
  • In-depth understanding of business strategy and operational metrics with the ability to link data insights to strategic objectives and provide actionable recommendations
  • Solid analytical mindset with a focus on solving complex business problems  

 

Preferred Qualifications:        

  • 2+ years of experience in leadership positions

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
