The Inside Sales Account Manager is a patient-inspired, results-oriented and collaborative sales role. This is a high performing Team, and this role is critical to the growth of our division.  The Inside Sales Account Manager will call on AI/GI Specialists (Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, etc.) focused on generating new Biologic referrals. They will work closely with the MA’s/RN’s/MD’s within medical offices to process Biologic infusion referrals. This position also requires attending applicable sales training sessions. 

The Inside Sales Account Manager is expected to achieve sales goals by developing and executing a territory sales plan, maintaining, and growing referral sources, develop sales targets, close sales, coordinate sales efforts with strategic manufacturing and distribution partners, support the needs of the medical practice clients and participate in company sales planning, meetings and reporting as it relates to Biologic medications and therapy management. The Inside Sales Account Manager will also work closely with their Intake, Operations and Nursing partners to achieve positive patient outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of achieving results, building relationships, customer focus, and promoting all sales and marketing programs. 

This is a commission eligible position with an uncapped commission plan.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain and grow relationships with physician’s offices that deal with complex chronic diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Psoriasis and other AI/GI diseases
  • Provide responsive customer service with assigned accounts, evaluate current and future needs or existing and new accounts
  • Routinely conducts quality assurance activities through reviews, meetings, reports and observation of results, according to professional practice standards. Provides feedback to Optum Infusion Pharmacy Management on sales issues, customer and patient satisfaction, etc.
  • Research and identify sales targets by utilizing available sales and market data
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of disease state and treatment options and their impact on patients, payers, institutions, health systems and healthcare providers
  • Utilize effective communication via phone, email, fax, and MS Teams, to deliver the Optum Infusion Pharmacy values
  • Qualify prospects and uncover physician offices’ needs
  • Present solutions and promote a patient-centered culture that strives to exceed needs, requirements, and expectations to physician’s offices in order to influence them to direct prescriptions to our Infusion Pharmacy
  • Work collaboratively with providers offering a seamless referral process
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders (Intake, Operations and Nursing) to execute key selling strategies, provide exceptional post – sale support and ensure that your customer’s expectations are met
  • Achieve sales goals – Performance vs. First Fill by leading and taking responsibility for development and implementation of a growth strategy for the territory, through effective business planning, sales execution and fully leveraging our customer selling model
  • Demonstrate persistence, overcome obstacles, and create solutions to improve your skills and achieve your budgetary goals
  • Partner with RSD on territory growth strategy overall and to make a sales plan with specific target accounts and sales objectives; responsible for the successful accomplishment of this plan including representing the company and achieving/exceeding budgetary goals set forth
  • Evaluate business needs with the ability to forecast and plan around sales goals and targeting
  • Take initiative and be a problem solver with business development and growth strategies with a willingness to think creatively to achieve solutions
  • Establish relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturer reps in your territory
  • Utilize Salesforce.com and all Optum Infusion Pharmacy sales / marketing tools, territory data / reports to successfully grow your book of business and achieve stated goals
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards while complying with all UHG and government policies and regulations

Required Qualification:

  • 2+ years of experience in medical device, lab or specialty pharmacy sales 
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Ability to travel up to 5%
  • Ability to work standard business hours within EST/CST time zone
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B2B Sales experience 
  • Experience selling infusion products as manufacturer and/or infusion pharmacy
  • Demonstrated experience working individually and as a Team to achieve results
  • Solid team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented
  • Tenacious and motivated outside-the-box thinker who excels in a collaborative team setting
  • Ability to work autonomously, managing own workload and seeking out opportunities to expand service opportunities
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills with patients, providers and other staff members

Soft Skills: 

  • Proven ability to drive results in a challenging and ambiguous market by building a book of business from scratch
  • Demonstrate understanding of business goals and sales strategy to build upon
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions
  • Proven track record of sales success

The salary range for this role is $19.23 to $38.46 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
