As our Senior Data Product Program Manager you will oversee the end-to-end execution of data product initiatives, balancing agile and waterfall methodologies to drive project success. This role involves managing risks, tracking milestones, and ensuring quality assurance across the portfolio. Leading a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts, the Senior Data Product Program Manager will foster collaboration and provide strategic direction.

Additionally, they will manage capital planning with finance teams, maintain meticulous project documentation, and oversee support teams to ensure effective resolution of production issues. Serving as a Center of Excellence for methodologies and project execution, this role is pivotal in delivering high-quality data products that meet organizational goals.

The ideal candidate will be able to develop and maintain positive relationships with cross-functional team members, establish trust and credibility in a matrix organization, as well as demonstrate effective interpersonal, influence, collaboration and listening skills.

Primary Responsibilities of a Senior Data Product Program Manager:

  • Ensure meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of project documentation, including project plans, status reports, risk logs, and change requests
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans for data product initiatives using both agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Work within the release train framework to ensure synchronization of multiple agile teams
  • Facilitate Program Increment (PI) planning sessions and ensure alignment with business goals
  • Identify, assess, and monitor project risks throughout project lifecycle
  • Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address potential issues
  • Capture and report on milestone status across the complete portfolio of projects
  • Ensure timely completion of key project phases and deliverables
  • Allocate resources effectively across projects to ensure optimal utilization
  • Collaborate with finance teams on capital planning activities
  • Track financial performance against capital budgets ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Serve as the COE for methodologies ensuring consistent application of best practices in project management
  • Lead initiatives aimed at optimizing project execution processes across the organization

Required Qualifications of a Senior Data Product Program Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Prince 2/ Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  • Experience with capital planning and financial tracking in collaboration with finance teams
  • Experience in risk management with the ability to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts

Preferred Qualifications of a Senior Data Product Program Manager:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent agile certification (Master’s degree or MBA is a plus)
  • Proven exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Rally, Microsoft Project, and Confluence
  • Understanding of data product development lifecycle and associated technologies
