This Finance position will support FP&A activities for Optum Care Delivery – Midwest. Candidate will be directly involved in modeling and support of quarterly forecast/budget cycles for the region as well as engaging in month end close activities, provider performance tracking, strategic initiatives modeling, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiencies, and other ad hoc financial support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build out and load complex quarterly forecast models that roll up to larger Optum P&L
  • Understanding and managing the Midwest’s multiple financial risk arrangements that varies by states, products, and multiple health plans
  • Perform month end close activities and submit business commentary and insights on variances to forecast and budget
  • Provide insights and identify trends drivers inside of P&L
  • Translates financial reporting into concepts that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Work cross functionally with accounting, growth, provider relations, healthcare economics, actuary, risk adjustment and care value teams to better understand the business and identify opportunities
  • Influences senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches to drive financial performance

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business  
  • 5+ years of healthcare finance/accounting experience
  • Proficiency in MS Excel skills, including significant financial modeling experience
  • Experience working collaboratively and influencing others within a matrix organization

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • Experience with Medicare Risk arrangements and / or value-based care
  • Experience with Essbase / Smartview or similar accounting software
  • Understanding of third-party contracts and concepts
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, prioritize work and be a self-starter
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to verbally communicate ideas clearly & confidently

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
