A UHC Technology E&I Architect is accountable for working with UHC organizations in facilitating new product initiatives, applying modern architecture methodologies, and working with business partners. The individual will focus on converting business needs into the architecture and design. In that process, the Architect usually relies on solution patterns from previous engagements, published reference architectures, and highly skilled Enterprise Architect techniques with expertise in Cloud, Data, and AI/ML to design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing enterprise solutions. In their efforts, the Architect balances architectural concerns of the initiative with the concerns of the enterprise.
The Architect plays an important role in ensuring that the architecture aligns with the roadmaps established by enterprise architecture, and that it adheres to enterprise architecture principles. Architects are both a consumer and contributor to enterprise architecture collateral. Often, the patterns and guidance architects develop become reusable in a broader enterprise architecture context.
The Architect will assist in defining the scope of an initiative, potential impact and determine an overall solution approach. They will be assigned to initiatives to perform research, coordinate discovery sessions, creation of documentation and artifacts, and identify and track risks.
Primary Responsibility:
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 11+ years of experience in a variety of IT positions including software engineering, architecture, and data management
- 7+ years of experience with systems analysis, design, coding, and testing at all levels
- 5+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, with a solid focus on cloud modernization, data architecture, or AI/ML implementations
- Hands-on experience supporting AI/ML frameworks, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn, including the deployment of ML models in production environments
- Proven expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience managing hybrid or multi-cloud environments
- Understanding of data architecture, data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT, reporting & analytics processes
- Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., pySpark, Kafka, Snowflake, Databricks)
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, Kubernetes, and DevSecFinOps principles
- Demonstrated ability to implement security, compliance, and governance best practices within cloud and data environments, particularly in regulated industries
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Cloud (AWS, Azure, or Google)
- Experience with large-scale IT system integration and architecture solutions
- Experience applying enterprise and data integration patterns using APIs, micro-services, event-driven and data-driven/streaming approaches
- Experience in architecture patterns of integration, information delivery, portals, and workflow
- Demonstrated experience adapting to new processes and models
- Experience leading capability grooming sessions with a variety of business and technology stakeholders
- Experience with multiple development frameworks and methodologies (e.g. TOGAF, Agile, SAFe)
- Experience within the health insurance, healthcare, or other regulated industries
- Experience working with productivity tools (e.g. MS Office suite)
- Knowledge of MLOps, AI ethics, and responsible AI practices
Soft Skills:
- Define and implement enterprise-wide cloud strategies that support our consumer-centric transformation initiatives while ensuring alignment with health insurance regulatory requirements
- Architect and oversee data governance frameworks, data pipelines, and analytics architectures to drive advanced AI/ML initiatives that improve member services and operational efficiency
- Ensure that enterprise solutions are scalable, secure, and cost-effective, leveraging best practices in cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and addressing healthcare-specific security and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA)
- Provide thought leadership and mentorship to teams across the organization, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with business leaders, product managers, and development teams to define technology roadmaps that drive consumer-centric transformation across our health insurance operations
- Collaborate on standards, best practices, and policies for cloud, data management, and AI/ML implementations in a regulated environment.
- Collaborate on the evaluation and selection of new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance our enterprise capabilities
- Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and containerization strategies that support our mission to improve healthcare outcomes
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards, including HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2, and other industry-specific mandates
- Solid mental agility and critical thinking/analytical skills, and be adaptable to an ever-changing environment
- Very solid presentation skills with ability to create both high level diagrams for executives, as well as detailed solution documentation for software engineers, data scientists, systems analysts, and QA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, is organized, has good time management skills, is focused, and has solid attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, is a team player, be proactive, a self-starter and is highly motivated
