The Sr. Communication Materials Production Specialist will be responsible for all direct mail efforts for a business line as assigned by their management within Government Programs Print, Fulfillment and Delivery.  The position requires a solid background in direct mail print production, including imaging (laser and inkjet), complex vendor programming instructions, printing (sheet-fed and web), variable data printing (VDP) and letter-shop services plus comprehensive knowledge of USPS regulations. In addition, this position requires solid analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to manage the complexities of a business line.  

If you are willing to work 8am-5pm CST, You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.  Expect to spend about 25% your time traveling to different markets across the US. 

 Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the production and documentation of multiple high version daily and monthly direct mail campaigns, working with cross-functional areas to ensure all aspects of program requirements are met
  • Ability to write complex vendor programming instructions  
  • Serve as the central point of contact for the business line, understanding the implications of changes and the requirements to implement with quality. 
  • Identify, diagnose, and track issues while working cross-functionally to resolve.  Act as the lead for any issues to understand root cause, notify appropriate areas, evaluate processes/procedures and monitor and document progress.  Communicate to appropriate areas and various levels of management through issue resolution.  Collaborates with project team members and cross-functional areas to develop solutions to any issues that arise.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management, demonstrating professionalism and objectivity during challenging situations
  • Must possess solid analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to effectively develop solutions to reduce risk and optimize production/cost efficiencies
  • Train and update back-up personnel to ensure continuity of production work, delegating whenever possible to validate understanding of systems and process
  • Project management experience managing multiple campaigns and efforts with competing priorities 
  • Ability to implement Marketing and Regulatory changes throughout the process ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Provide postal expertise including postal presort, NCOA, CASS certification IMB mail tracking and BMC/SCF to client to ensure all USPS specifications are met.
  • Collaborate with team members & cross functional areas to develop creative solutions for print & production issues/challenges
  • Aptitude for understanding change drivers to the campaign and the ability to offer up creative solutions to reduce/maintain costs.  
  • Monitor and evaluate vendor performance through production quality reviews, vendor site visits and quarterly performance reviews.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance/process improvement

Required Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years of print on demand and traditional print fulfillment experience
  • 7+ years of extensive print production experience
  • 7+ years of experience managing vendor relationships
  • 5+ years of budget management experience
  • Competitive bidding and vendor selection experience
  • Postal knowledge
  • PC proficiency – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook experience
  • Willing or ability to travel up to 25% across different U.S.A markets 

 

Preferred Qualifications:    

  • Familiarity with Medicare health insurance products
  • Quality assurance/process improvement experience
  • Document management experience

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
