This particular position will concentrate on solutions in Enterprise Data Warehousing and Analytics engagements, therefore understanding of databases, data warehouses, analytics, and analytics models are especially important.

Primary Responsibilities:

Solution Architects concentrate on defining and describing Optum responses to customer proposals for solutions systems and providing feedback to internal Optum on customer requests for product direction and suitability to market demand. Solution architects also participate in helping define interoperability of products across applications and ensuring systems designs can operate well with other external and internal systems, minimizing integration time required.
Special interests of the solution architect include the following:

• Review functional and non-functional requirements of internal and external customers to design and configure solutions that meet or exceed those requirements
• Develop cost estimates of proposed solutions using costing models to inform proposal response finance team efforts
• Minimize cost to implement and maximize the adaptability of solutions for internal and external customers’ needs
• Follow standards, processes and tooling governed by the organizations while identifying gaps those assets present and alternate solutions to resolve any gaps in the response
• Provide early feedback on industry and customer requests to Optum to allow effective response to evolution of customer needs
• Champion proposed solutions through any gate reviews
• Pitch solutions to potential customers during any orals
• Coordinate with delivery, applications, product, etc. that solutions account for their ability to deliver
• Lead kickoff presentations of any wins during project contract/delivery startup
• Identify potential revolutionary / new product ideas based on insight of repetitive industry issues observed
• Help to define consistent interface needs that allow greater utility of products for customers, Optum, and implementation teams
• Develop maximum flexibility of interface designs commiserate with industry direction and Optum advantage
• In concert with enterprise architects, coordinate application, data, security, infrastructure, business architectures to comprise complete solutions
• Collaborate with other architecture disciplines to align to enterprise strategic architecture direction

Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ (prefer 7) years of experience in a combination of data warehousing, analytics, ETL\ELT architecture
• Experience working on analytics development
• Proven ability to communicate well directly with customers
• Proven ability to contribute well to proposal teams in answering bids
• Proven ability to complete work independently and within team settings

Preferred Qualification:

• Azure or AWS hands-on cloud experience, especially on native data intake, transform, and load functionalities as well as cloud native EDW and Analytics databases like Snowflake and cloud vendor analytics databases.
