As the Advisory Consultant you will join an elite team committed to changing health care through outstanding service and valuable products. You’ll use innovative tools including the largest database of health care information in the world. You will help develop complex actuarial products and support actuarial teams in day-to-day reporting and analyses. Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop complex algorithms and convert complex mathematical calculations to code
- Understand the capabilities of the products and associated reporting tools and work towards enhancing new and existing functionalities
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with broader product teams
- Participate in and support release processes for team products
- Participate in client relationships and communications
- Assist with project scheduling and coordination of tasks
- Execute creative problem solving and critical thinking on the job
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy along with attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, solid interpersonal skills, and the ability to always meet deadlines
- Take accountability for work within a fast paced, exciting environment and learn from challenges as they arise
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (STEM field) or equivalent experience
- Intermediate/Expert level of experience with coding (at least one of R, Python) and SQL
- Experience in developing complex algorithms and converting complex mathematical calculations to code
- Experience of developing applications/ dashboards with Python Flask/Dash/Streamlit or R-shiny
- Good understanding of using data tables in R or pandas data frames in Python and perform transformations, joins, aggregations and summarize results
- Good understanding of OOPs concepts, multiprocessing and modular programming
- Good understanding of machine learning models and developing stages of ML pipelines
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal forms of communication
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and use computer software tools effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively and collaboratively on all assignments with various teams both internal and external to Optum
- Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven to be eager to learn about and work on a variety of different projects/assignments
- Proven flexibility to handle changing priorities/requirements/deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Business analyst and/or customer facing experience
- Experience working in a consultancy, actuarial or healthcare field
- Experience with Github repositories and actions
- Experience with automating tasks
- Expertise working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs in MS Excel
