The Director of Sourcing Analytics & Strategy is responsible providing analytics for informing OptumRx product access strategy, providing industry intelligence, product market research and analytics support to the OptumRx Pharmacy Businesses, and Industry & Network Relations (INR) across Brand/Specialty, Generic, Biosimilar, and Consumer Category Product classes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring Pharmaceutical Manufacturer commercialization trends, drug launch pipeline, and the volume by OptumRx pharmacy to identify and support opportunities
  • Monitoring the healthcare marketplace for regulatory changes impacting OptumRx’s sourcing strategy and position in the marketplace
  • Providing COGS to underwriting and finance teams monthly
  • Support financial tracking and identify IOI maximization opportunities with our Wholesaler Relationship by supporting negotiations, programs, contract adherence, dashboard analytics and enhancements
  • Maintain and enhance ongoing processes for measuring and monitoring all supplier metrics, including Wholesaler & Direct Manufacturer related metrics and data
  • Collaborate with finance to develop a Dashboard, Trend Analysis, and financial metrics that enable and drive actionable and business decisions that drive margin growth and position OptumRx pharmacies as leaders in their respective segments
  • Scan marketplace to identify product sourcing arbitrage or leverage opportunities for ORx pharmacies
  • Analyze and communicate Peer PBM Pharmacy product sourcing strategies & practices to ensure ORx Pharmacies continue to be leaders & become the most competitive in their respective pharmacy segments

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop and utilize the necessary tools and processes to provide usable data, analysis and market research to INR & Pharmacy Services Business Leaders by receiving and processing data requests from those teams
  • Provide guidance to colleagues & Business Unit Leaders on availability of data and actionable insight and promote best practices amongst the group
  • Support inventory optimization product targeting, helping develop automated reports, in partnership with data engineers in Ireland
  • Support Contract Management in Manufacture asks, tracking, Conference Presentations tracking of item LOE dates and sales changes and analytics on one ad hoc requests
  • Define roles and responsibilities within the group to ensure each Associate is accountable for delivering results
  • Liaise with the Enterprise Data & Analytics teams to support INR & Pharmacy Services Business needs including dashboard development, ongoing maintenance/updates, and strategies for 3rd Party data strategy and design; assists with the execution of the data feeds related to both external parties
  • Pinpoint systemic issues that lead to poor service, missed opportunities and misaligned communication, and recommend new procedures, technical solutions or policy changes enabling compliance and ease of doing business
  • Support Ad hoc projects as necessary
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in an analytical role in Business Intelligence, Market Research, and/or Finance, within the Healthcare Supply Chain Industry
  • 1+ years of experience negotiating contracts with vendors and/or customers in healthcare 
  • Experience building cohesive and effective teams
  • Experience communicating complex information concisely to executive leadership    
  • Advanced knowledge of product and supplier base, product relationships and pharmaceutical/life sciences industry trends
  • Proven exceptional business acumen and project management skills, including experience working collaboratively across a matrixed organization and managing multiple projects of diverse scope 
  • Ability to travel as need up 10%

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Wholesaler sell side experience 
  • Experience with SQL and/or Power BI 
  • Financial forecasting experience
  • Pharmaceutical consulting experience
  • Working knowledge of sales, supply chain management and/or inventory management principles and methodologies

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
