The Senior Data Engineer of Star Ratings Analytics within UHC Medicare & Retirement will maintain and continues to reimagine the foundational metrics and analytics surrounding star ratings at UHG, making them more actionable, transparent, accurate, and flexible. The role will integrate new relationships around the company, new data sources, and new methods/technologies along the way. Join us.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data integration and analytics
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions
  • Optimize and improve existing data workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Implement data quality checks and ensure data integrity across various data sources
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data engineering processes and systems
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, ensuring timely resolution
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices in data engineering

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
  • 3+ years of professional experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
  • 3+ years of professional experience working with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka), cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery)
  • Knowledge of data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing concepts
  • Proven excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Proven solid communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Certification in cloud platforms or big data technologies
  • Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies
  • Experience with healthcare data
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts
  • Proven solid Relationship building skills with internal and practice teams to drive goal alignment

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
