As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems, applications, and infrastructure. You will bridge the gap between development and operations, applying software engineering practices to solve operational challenges. Your focus will be on automating processes, improving system reliability, and ensuring seamless delivery of services to our customers.

Primary Responsibilities:
- System Reliability and Performance:
- Maintain and improve system reliability, availability, and scalability
- Monitor application and infrastructure performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
- Incident / Problem Management and Troubleshooting:
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, problems minimizing downtime and impact users
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure high availability of critical systems.
- Automation and Tooling:
- Automate manual processes, including deployments, monitoring, and configuration management
- Capacity Planning and Optimization:
- Perform capacity analysis and ensure systems can handle growth and peak loads.
- Optimize infrastructure and application costs through efficient resource allocation.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with development teams to ensure reliability is incorporated into design and code
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in processes and systems
- Documentation and Standards:
- Document procedures, architecture, and incident postmortems.
- Establish best practices for monitoring, alerting, and operational processes.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure systems are secure and compliant with organizational standards and regulations.
- Apply security best practices to infrastructure and application design.
- Maturity Advancement
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and refine operational processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Innovation: Identify and implement new technologies and methodologies to improve system reliability and performance
- Training and Development: Provide training and mentorship to team members to build a culture of reliability and operational excellence
- Metrics and Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the maturity of reliability practices and drive improvements
- Best Practices: Establish and promote best practices for site reliability engineering within the organization
- Feedback Loop: Create a feedback loop with development and operations teams to ensure continuous learning and improvement

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in managing large-scale distributed systems and handling production incidents
- 2+ years of networking protocols, DNS, and load balancing concepts
- 2+ years of experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and their performance optimization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer)
- Kubernetes certifications (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator – CKA)

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
