The Sr. Data Engineering role is critical for maintaining the stability, security, and performance of the UHC E&I database environments.

 

Summary: The DBAs keep all our applications, including those that are customer-facing, healthy and available. Database management (architecture, security, access management (including PHI or HIPPA), tuning, disaster recovery, backup or retention, etc.) is essential to UHC E&I operations. The Sr. Data Engineering has a broad scope of responsibilities and is a key member in every project team that is organized.

 

Functional Description: Functions may include database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modeling, big data development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar roles. Responsibilities may include Platform-as-a-Service and Cloud solution with a focus on data stores and associated eco systems. Duties may include design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, ensuring strict data quality, and performing needs assessments. Analyzes current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities. May design schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting and helps to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Work as a team member of the DBA group
• Uphold enterprise policy guidelines and implement new or improved guidelines for the DBA team
• Partner with project teams and interact with developers and customers to find solutions for projects and operational issues for existing and proposed databases
• Act as data liaison serving as primary point of contact between application business segments
• Solid acquaintance with windows and UNIX server, security delegation, storage components
• Documentation skills for processes and procedures (creating KBs, runbooks, topology)
• Document, implement, and execute disaster recovery plans as needed
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience Job
• 10+ years of experience as DBA on one or more database platform (Oracle or mySQL) 
• Demonstrates advanced level of understanding and application of database concepts and their integration with business problem solving skills

 

Primary Skill Set: MYSQL Database Administration

• Demonstrated experience with MySQL database design, implementation, performance tuning, and capacity planning
• Experience with enterprise backup and recovery strategies
• Experience in database software management (patch and version management)
• Solid understanding of MySQL internal architecture
• Knowledge on MySQL PXC Galera Clusterx XtraDB Backup
• Expertise on Upgradation and Replication
• Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
• Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Manage large scale and high transactional MySQL databases servicing OLTP
• Good scripting ability and good working knowledge of Shell Scripts, Python
• Provision MySQL V8 instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
• Provide oncall support for critical incidents and warrooms
• Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
• Prepare documentations and specifications
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

 

Secondary Skillset: Oracle DBA

• Experienced Oracle DBA, with extensive knowledge on architecture, operational support, and database installations ranging from (R11 and R23c) including Data Guard, Physical standby, RAC, Grid, and standby replication
• Experience of handling databases on Exadata appliances
• Experience with critical database support of production database environments
• Experience in db performance and analysis of complex queries tuning
• Experience in designing, implementing, and verification of disaster recovery (DR) strategies with and without data-guard broker
• Experience with database restores or refreshes with RMAN and Data pump
• Development of scripts for Unix or Linux environments in patching, general maintenance, auto tuning etc. Establishing and documenting database architectural guidelines, establishing operational best practices
• Capacity analysis of Oracle Databases and finding growth statistics
• Design and maintain the backup & recovery solutions on both disk and tape
• Monitoring or trouble shooting or performance tuning
• Monitoring setup using Oracle Enterprise Manger (OEM)
• Creation and implementation of fully functional database clusters, ability to maintain multiple development, QA, and production environments with experience in performance tuning
• Review existing configurations and installations and provide design decisions for improvements to platform environments
• Perform production level support and be part of the on-call rotation
• Work with Oracle vendor and its respected support channels when required
• Work with application teams and developers to design, development, testing, tuning and implementation of database applications

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Healthcare related experience 
• Experience with planning, organizing and leading database projects and initiatives
• Extensive experience in maintaining EBS certificate renewals, code deployments
• High volume, transaction processing background with claims, billing, EDI, or Healthcare Insurance systems development experience 
• Oracle ERP (EBS – eBusiness Suite) Administration knowledge or experience
• Systems Analysis and Performance Tuning (Oracle Database 12c or 19c, WebLogic, Oracle Application Server, JVM Tuning, Application SQL and PL or SQL code tuning, etc.) experience
• Installation or upgrades (for database and EBS, etc.) experience
• Possession of broad understanding of company business issues and their integration with broad and complex information systems applications
• Demonstrated ability to manage and administer Oracle EBS applications and databases. Perform routine monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting of EBS environments to ensure optimal performance
• Demonstrated ability to perform systems maintenance (Oracle RDMBS, Oracle Application Server, WebLogic, Oracle OAM) and Systems Administration
• Demonstrated ability to perform Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) apps DBA duties as assigned including code migrations, patching, cloning, backup, and recovery
• Demonstrated ability to perform daily system health checks and monthly performance metrics to publish reports
• Demonstrated ability to assist in planning and performing Oracle EBS and database upgrades and migrations
