As the Associate Director, Behavioral Health Network, you represent the voice of our Providers to the rest of organization.  You are accountable for the full range of Behavioral Health provider relations, service interactions, network development and contracting. These include managing the ongoing contract relationship and service delivery, working on end-to-end provider claim issues, promoting use of physician portal and soliciting future service enhancements, and training & development of external provider education programs. You will design and implement programs to build and nurture positive relationships between and meet the strategic objectives of the health plan, providers (physician, hospital, ancillary, etc.) and practice managers. Identify gaps in network composition and services to direct the network contracting staff in prioritizing contracting needs.

The person in this role must be located in the state of Tennessee.  If you are located in Tennessee, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges. Preference for someone located in Middle or West Tennessee.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represent the voice of our providers to the rest of the organization and is measured on Provider NPS
  • Act as outward-facing, dedicated resource for assigned Providers and state and market organizations
  • Act as SME on complex contract requirements (which may vary by facility within large scale, national systems)
  • Build relationships with key providers and serve as primary point of contact for overall and day-to-day Behavioral Health provider relations and service interactions
  • Develop functional, market level, and/or site strategy and plans to support complex Health Plan programs based on state and market requirements
  • In cases where key providers are shared across UHC Medical and Behavioral Health networks, collaborate with UHN provider relations team to deliver an integrated provider experience
  • Serve as a centralized intake point for provider inquiries and claim issues
  • Oversee inquiry and complex issue resolution based on a comprehensive understanding of contractual agreement spanning all entities/service locations for the respective national system and / or strategic providers
  • Develop a strategic partnership that enables best practice sharing as well as collaboration on innovation
  • Anticipate provider needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
  • Navigate and influence multiple cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix work environment
  • Identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems outside own team
  • Provide explanations and information to others on the most complex issues
  • Provide leadership to and is accountable for the performance of managers and / or senior level professional staff

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Behavioral Health Care Network Management or similar Behavioral Health experience
  • Experience working with TENNCARE Medicaid
  • Experience communicating with all levels of the organization, and presenting to Internal and External Leadership
  • Experience working collaboratively and influencing others
  • Experience achieving goals in a matrix environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of behavioral health provider contracting (e.g., language; terminology; processes; methodology)
  • Demonstrated understanding of internal claims and payment policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems (e.g., FACETS; Salesforce; EDI processes; clearinghouses) to provide services to providers
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Willing or ability to travel in local market
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel up to 25% locally throughout the TN market

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
