The Senior Manger of AI/ML engineering role is an exciting, dynamic role within the Enterprise Security and Resilience Office (ESRO) Cyber AI Team. Our data science team builds innovative solutions to facilitate UHG’s cybersecurity situational awareness, analytics, and investigations. The data and systems we protect are distributed across the world, are a complex combination of technologies, and are always evolving. Cyber security data is collected in structured, unstructured, and semi-structured formats, at varying velocities, and in a complex, dynamic security environment. This creates unique data science challenges in support analysts, and investigators. The ideal candidate has experience creatively navigating development, analytic, and engineering challenges within a large organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Managing a team with highly motivated data scientists
- Developing, motivating and supporting team member career development
- Working with internal Cyber Defense customers to produce meaningful cybersecurity threat models
- Collecting, cleaning, processing, and analyzing data related to enterprise cybersecurity
- Developing data science models within an operational CICD pipeline
- Working with source data teams to understand security and operational processes through data
- Developing solutions for technical users to access data from the Data Lake through a variety of means, including APIs, flat file extracts, or web applications
- Remaining up to date and on the cutting edge of Big Data technology
- Constantly learning and adapting to new techniques, languages, and technologies

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related quantitative and technical field
- Relevant bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experiences
- 7+ years of experience delivering statistical models to customers in a large organization
- 5+ years of real-world data science experience in a large organization or supporting a large organization
- 5+ years of implementing products within AI/ML solutions on prem and in cloud
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Background experience with data engineering with an affinity for developing code from the command line
- Foundational knowledge in information technology, including hardware, networking, architecture, protocols, file systems and operating systems
- Fluency in Python and Cloud Computing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or another STEM discipline
- 10+ years of experience working with Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Experience in the cybersecurity domain
- Demonstrated servant leadership
- Proven track record of building high-performing teams
- Proven ability to convert innovative ideas into impactful AI/ML solutions

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
