We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Vice President of Revenue Cycle Innovation and Automation to lead our efforts in optimizing the revenue cycle processes. This individual will be responsible for driving innovation, implementing automation solutions, and ensuring the highest level of efficiency in revenue cycle management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in healthcare revenue cycle operations, technology integration, and process improvement.

 

This person will serve as a strategic leader responsible for transforming the end-to-end revenue cycle through the deployment of advanced AI, modern automation, and performance-driven process design. This role will align business operations, technology innovation, and financial outcomes to maximize revenue capture, reduce friction, and drive enterprise value creation.

 

This role will be pivotal in shaping the future-state revenue cycle operating model, building scalable automation frameworks, predictive analytics platforms, and intelligent workflows across pre-service, mid-cycle, and back-end functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive revenue cycle innovation strategy aligned with the company’s goals and objectives
  • Innovation Management: identify and evaluate emerging technologies and process improvements to enhance revenue cycle operations, including automation tools and data analytics
  • Innovation Oversight: Evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML, NLP, OCR, automation platforms) to optimize claims, denials, prior authorization, coding, and collections processes
  • KPI Governance: Establish enterprise-wide revenue cycle KPIs including clean claim rate, denial rate, days in A/R, cash acceleration, and net collection yield
  • Process Optimization: Lead initiatives to streamline revenue cycle processes, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency and effectiveness
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with clinical, financial, and operational leaders to ensure alignment and integration of revenue cycle initiatives across the organization
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of revenue cycle operations and drive continuous improvement
  • Change Management: Foster a culture of innovation and adaptability, guiding teams through the implementation of new technologies and processes
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all revenue cycle operations comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop a high-performing team, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and capabilities

Required Qualifications:        

  • 10+ years of experience in revenue cycle management, with a focus on innovation and automation in the healthcare sector. including 3–5 years leading digital transformation initiatives
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and implementing revenue cycle transformation initiatives
  • Demonstrated success implementing AI or automation at scale within complex, multi-site healthcare environments
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Experience with data analytics tools and revenue cycle management software
  • Deep knowledge of payer rules, revenue cycle benchmarks, and reimbursement models
  • Executive-level communication, board reporting, and stakeholder alignment expertise
  • Experience with platforms such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, AWS/Azure AI tools, Epic/Cerner, Tableau/Power BI

The salary range for this role is $150,200 to $288,500 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
