The Senior Data Scientist supports management in producing innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from diverse data sets and knowledge of statistics, and data modeling to identify opportunities to present valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement to management to ensure minimal risk to HEDIS/Star ratings.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Support management with data verification, identifying and implementation of quality methods and standards of system procedures used to support department deliverables
- Support management with practicing conflict resolutions and presenting solutions to leadership to support with unique and complex problems that directly impact the business
- Support management with developing an audit process to measure quality assurance and ensure data integrity, conformity and accessibility, on performed deliverables conducted within department
- Analyzes and trends HEDIS rates, identifies barriers to improve rates and collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve barriers
- Provides team support with interpretation, analysis and technical guidance for implementation of HEDIS/Star Specifications
- Stays current on all CMS, NCQA, and HEDIS/Star communications to align WellMed data submissions strategies to minimize risk to data submissions, audits, and overall scores
- Work on data verification, identifying and implementation of quality methods and standards of system procedures used to support department deliverables
- Practicing conflict resolutions and presenting solutions to leadership to support with unique and complex problems that directly impact the business
- Develop, reviews and analyzes on-going customer requests (for new data elements to be brought into the existing model, for customizations or cross-walking of existing data elements, for computation of new fields based on customer-provided business logic, combinations of existing data elements, etc.)
- Functions as a primary contributor in designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting and supporting all types of applications consistent with established specifications and business requirements to deliver business value
- Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact of business to translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of business users
- Devises data verification and quality methods and standard systems procedures that will be used to support Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence platforms
- Knowledge of HEDIS/Star technical specifications Measure build out requirements in accordance to annual specifications
- Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 3+ years of experience in strong understanding of SQL Server (Version 2005 and Higher)
- 3+ years of experience working with inter-departmental teams
- 3+years of experience supporting executive management with department budgeting and strategic planning
- 2+ years of experience in CMS Star and NCQA HEDIS knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field of technology
- 3+ years of ETL Experience/SQL and Informatics
- Healthcare industry experience
- Experience supporting management with leading a business and technical team
- Knowledge of HEDIS/Star regulatory requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
