As a Senior Tax Associate, you will be involved in all aspects of the state premium tax practice, including returns, estimates, extensions, audits, and special state projects. In addition, you will have an opportunity to participate in the accounting and accrual activities related to the premium tax process. Depending on your career goals, you will also have opportunities to become involved other tax projects as well as M&A transactions.

Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will participate in a wide variety of tax matters including:
- Prepare premium tax returns
- Resolve indirect tax audits and notices
- Prepare premium tax estimates and extensions
- Participate in premium tax accounting and accrual process
- Assist in process improvement and automation initiatives utilizing Generative AI, Alteryx, Microsoft Power BI, and other data manipulation/visualization tools
- Participate in planning activities related to emerging premium tax issues
- Perform research and provide analysis of proposed and existing tax laws, regulations, and rulings
- Assist Tax leadership with M & A transactions and other related projects

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1+ years tax or accounting experience in a public accounting firm or equivalent experience
- Knowledge and/or desire to understand state/local tax laws and regulations
- Solid computer literacy including intermediate proficiency with MS Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or graduate degree
- PremiumPro or equivalent premium tax compliance software experience
- SSAP 101 (Insurance tax accounting) experience
- Motivated team player we are seeking must exhibit an interest in federal and state taxes
- Demonstrated ability to use pertinent data and facts to identify, analyze, and make recommendations to management on a range of issues within area of expertise
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments and manage workload within statutory and internal deadlines
- Proven excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills
- Proven solid research and analytical skills

The salary range for this role is $59,500 to $116,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
