This is a high – volume, production – based role that requires full attention to work duties. Employees in this role must be able to ensure they will have uninterrupted work time while they are on shift (outside of normally scheduled breaks and lunch). As an Associate Claims Representative, you will spend 8 hours of your day reviewing, analyzing, and researching complex health care claims in order to identify discrepancies, verify pricing, confirm prior authorizations and process them for payment. You’ll need to be comfortable navigating across various computer systems to locate critical information. Attention to detail is critical to ensure accuracy, which will impact the timely processing of the member’s claim.
This position is full time (40 hours / week), Monday – Friday. Employees are required to have the flexibility to work any of our assigned 8-hour shift during our normal business hours of 5:00 AM – 7:30 PM CST (Central Standard Time) including the flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends based on business need.
We offer 14 weeks of paid training (attendance during training is 100% mandatory). The hours during training will be 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM CST (Central Standard Time) from Monday – Friday. Training hours may vary. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide general claims support by reviewing and processing claims
- Calculate other insurance and benefits
- Participate in meetings to share, discuss, and solution for question or error trends, as well as potential process improvements
- Consistently meet established productivity, schedule adherence, and quality standards

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- 1+ years of experience in a related environment (i.e., office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using computers as the primary job tools
- 1+ years of experience with Windows personal computer applications, which includes the ability to navigate multiple programs and learn new and complex computer system applications
- Experience with using Microsoft Word (create, update, and format documents) and Microsoft Excel (create, update, and sort spreadsheets, pivot tables, and data)
- This position requires full attention to work duties. Employees in this role must be able to ensure they will have uninterrupted work time while they are on shift (outside of normally scheduled breaks and lunch).
- Ability to commit to 14 weeks of training (attendance during training is 100% mandatory)
- Ability to work any of our full time (40 hours / week), assigned 8-hour shift schedule during our normal business hours of 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM CST (Central Standard Time) from Monday – Friday including the flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends based on business need
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience with processing medical, dental, prescription, OR mental health claims
- Presently employed within UHC Operations & Experience. Those currently employed outside that unit will not be considered. (To verify, review your Sparq profile and the organization chart. - Basic understanding of healthcare claims including ICD – 9 and CPT codes
Telecommuting Requirements:
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
- Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $28.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
