The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing key accounting functions related to fixed assets, non-controlling interest (NCI), and Plan-to-Plan (P2P) transactions. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate recording, reporting, and compliance in highly time-sensitive and regulated financial operations. The role also supports monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, internal and external audits, and strategic transactions including business integrations and divestitures. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and strong commitment to operational excellence and financial integrity.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the full fixed asset lifecycle, including capitalization of new purchases, asset transfers, depreciation and amortization, retirements, disposals, and quarterly asset attestations to ensure accuracy and existence, all in compliance with company policy and GAAP
- Oversee work-in-progress (WIP) assets to ensure timely capitalization by reviewing vendor invoices and project documentation, confirming alignment with company policy and GAAP, coordinating with project and finance team to track progress, and monitoring aging balances to place assets in service promptly using appropriate asset classifications and depreciation lives
- Maintain accurate accounting for non-controlling interest (NCI), including ownership changes, profit/loss allocations, and related transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards
- Execute and oversee Plan-to-Plan (P2P) payment and receipt transactions to ensure they are processed timely, accurately, and in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulatory requirements
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes by performing close related analysis, identifying necessary adjustments, and preparing or recommending entries to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, analyze variances, and investigate issues to provide solutions and/or explanations/interpretations
- Support internal, external, and regulatory audits, respond to inquiries, and prepare supporting documents for audit deliverables
- Maintain, enhance, and develop internal controls, procedures, and process documentation for all assigned responsibilities
- Handle other assigned ad hoc projects and responsibilities, demonstrating flexibility and initiative in supporting departmental and organizational priorities
- Interact with business partners to ensure the delivery of high-quality output, maintain data integrity, effectively manage process changes, and meet or exceed stakeholder’s expectations
- Continuously improve assigned processes and responsibilities by identifying opportunities to simplify tasks, create efficiency, enhance effectiveness, and evaluate the overall quality of deliverables
- Review the work of others and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) by providing guidance, sharing best practices, and acting as a go-to resource to support knowledge transfer, problem-solving, and overall team development

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in fixed assets and maintaining general ledger processes, monthly closing, and financial reporting functions
- Solid US GAAP accounting background
- Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public accounting experience, CPA
- Experience supporting internal, external, and regulatory audits
- Experience with PeopleSoft Financials and reporting tools or systems like Hyperion Essbase and Power BI
- Understanding of internal control framework, including SOX and regulatory compliance

The salary range for this role is $59,500 to $116,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
