This role will lead and motivate a team of engineers by providing technical vision and direction to the Optum Financial Team in payments and financing use cases that can be solved with AI and work closely with the Enterprise AI team to deliver on our goals. This leader will build and operate AI solutions for the Optum Financial business.
Role- Based in Bangalore, India
Primary Responsibilities:
Technical Excellence and Innovation
- Key leadership role to plan and develop talent, processes, and AI capabilities within the Optum Financial organization.
- Recommend technical patterns and solutions aligned with architectural principles and standards through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide deep technical expertise to review designs and architecture.
- Align solutions with enterprise architecture by collaborating closely with product and capability architects.
- Modernize technology with a shift to modular, data-centric, open-source, and cloud-native technologies.
- Raise the bar on excellence in execution in terms of quality, timeliness, and scalability
- Take accountability for Key Engineering Metrics of the platform namely Availability, response time metrics, Time to Value and Time to build
- Collaborate with counterparts in other Geographical locations to ensure smooth execution of critical projects across the board
- Drive talent transformation as per the needs of Business
- Key leadership responsibility in Optum Financial Technology AI to plan and develop talent, process, and capabilities within the organization to support the larger goals of Optum Financial Business
- Recommends applicable technical patterns and solutions that are aligned with architectural guiding principles and standards through a regular cadence of delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
- Deep technical expertise to review designs and architecture
- Enhance the Engineering culture of the team

Required Qualifications:
Preferred experience in:
o financial services background
o domain expertise in banking, payments, information security and digital
o payments control environments.
- several years of experience in consumer tech, deep tech or financial tech industry firms in engineering or data science roles.
- Experience in both cloud and on platforms such as Redshift, S3, Netezza, Teradata, Databricks. Experience in modelling products for both consumer and commercial banking data models.
- Experience in data science and data modeling in consumer tech or fintech firms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or any STEM discipline
- 14+ years of software engineering experience leading geographically distributed teams
- 8+ years of experience working with an Agile development methodology
- 5+ years of experience in working in cloud-native environments
- 4+ years of solid project planning and execution skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on committed schedules
- 3+ years of expertise in cloud security and ability to build highly secure enterprise platforms
- 3+ years of experience operating in an environment that utilizes metrics & Engineering best practices, including a track record of quickly addressing engineering bottlenecks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the healthcare sector
- Experience with Azure
