The Sr. Marketing Manager is responsible for creating and executing all marketing strategies related to patient engagement, MA risk initiatives and gaps in care closure. This role supports the development and review of marketing materials and CMS-required regulatory communications for prospects, members, brokers and providers. Additionally, the candidate must ensure compliance with all Medicare marketing communication, including accurate and transparent messaging, adherence to CMS and Optum guidelines, maintaining the integrity of all marketing materials.
The Sr. Marketing Manager collaborates closely with key business partners to coordinate efforts across quality, marketing, and our medical practices. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in risk population management, healthcare marketing, and data-driven decision-making. The candidate should be able to understand key trends and create marketing strategies that are based on actionable insights.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, comfortable working independently, with a proven track record of creating and implementing effective marketing strategies. They should be well-organized, highly motivated, and willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done. The candidate must excel at collaborating and communicating with various business partners and leadership to ensure alignment and successful execution of objectives. A passion for proactively seeking new insights, finding creative solutions and measuring results is essential.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to manage and engage risk populations, ensuring optimal health outcomes and patient satisfaction
- Oversee the review and approval of all internal and external communication materials for Medicare Advantage marketing, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Collaborate with quality, care management, and other stakeholders to identify and address gaps in care through targeted communications and campaigns
- Lead the development and execution of New to Medicare and Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) strategies to enhance Medicare Advantage (MA) patient acquisition and education
- Design and execute targeted marketing campaigns using Epic’s CRM systems to drive patient visits and address gaps in care
- Develop and implement strategic and timely communications to inform patients about network changes and other critical health information updates
- Work closely with the Marketing Director and operations to develop and deploy in-office collateral and marketing strategies that support business targets and portal adoption
- Serve as a key member of the marketing team, creating clear and effective patient communications and coordinating message strategies
- Ensure all marketing assets comply with CMS marketing guidelines and requirements, routing materials through the compliance review and approval process
- Stay current on Medicare initiatives in the marketplace, using data and insights to optimize campaign performance and inform strategic decisions
- Maintain and enhance broker relationships within the NY/NJ region
- Effectively communicate complex information to leadership and business partners through presentation materials
- Support provider contracting success rates and operations by leveraging various marketing channels and tools
- Understand and adapt to the Optum culture

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of MA risk/marketing experience within a matrix organization
- 5+ years of experience in a deadline driven environment
- 5+ years of experience influencing and collaborating with others
- Comfortable with creating dashboards and leveraging technology for tracking campaign success
- Solid organizational skills and communication skills with keen attention to detail
- Proven creative problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with marketing project management systems (Workfront/Asana)
- Experience with CAHPS and HOS score improvement initiatives
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships with brokers and key business partners
- Experience working with providers and senior leadership; ability to distill complex issues into concise, actionable summaries using solid written and verbal communication
- Proven data-driven decision-making and analytical skills
- Working knowledge of applicable CMS policy guidance, laws and regulations
The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
