The Optum Payment Integrity Automation Centre of Excellence supports the organization through the delivery of automation solutions, using existing, new, and emerging technologies to enhance savings, improve productivity and quality and reduce cost.
The appropriate candidate will act as Scrum Master Delivery Manager (DM) and will be accountable for coaching their team(s) in understanding Agile principles and creating a culture of self-organization and continuous improvement, support their teams to deliver automation projects using Agile frameworks, fostering iterative development and continuous improvement, providing an escalation point for the effective removal of blocks and issues, and other standard Project Management and Scrum Master duties

Primary Responsibilities:
- Agile Coaching & Culture Building: Champion agile principles and foster a culture of self-organization, continuous improvement, and high performance within the team(s)
- Servant Leadership: Act as a servant leader, removing impediments, shielding the team from distractions, and enabling them to focus on delivering value
- Scrum Facilitation: Lead and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives) to ensure alignment, transparency, and progress toward sprint goals
- Roadmap Execution: Collaborate closely with Area Product Owners (APOs) and Feature Teams to deliver the automation and AI roadmap using a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) approach
- Risk & Dependency Management: Proactively identify, track, and manage risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies in partnership with Product Owners and Feature Teams
- Agile Adoption Support: Guide and support teams and Product Owners in adopting and maturing agile practices and mindsets
- Impediment Resolution: Support teams in escalating and resolving blockers that hinder progress, ensuring timely delivery
- Team Enablement: Promote collaboration, innovation, and accountability within and across teams, encouraging ownership and continuous learning
- Sprint Focus & Velocity Management: Keep teams focused on sprint goals, monitor velocity, and drive predictability in delivery
- Quality & Efficiency Oversight: Balance delivery speed with quality, ensuring sustainable development practices and high standards
- Strategic Alignment: Understand the broader product strategy, vision, and roadmap, and align team efforts to meet annual delivery targets
- Customer-Centric Delivery: Stay attuned to business goals and customer pain points, ensuring that the highest-value items are prioritized and delivered
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with technology partners, operations, and other stakeholders to integrate automation, AI, and emerging technologies seamlessly into existing workflows
- Innovation Enablement: Stay informed on the latest trends in AI, machine learning, intelligent automation, and other emerging technologies, and help teams explore and adopt these innovations to drive business value
- Delivery Governance: Oversee delivery governance tasks, including access management (e.g., robot non-user IDs), scheduling Technical Design Councils, and ensuring all mandatory artifacts are completed, signed off, and stored appropriately

Required Qualifications:
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM or equivalent) with hands-on experience in a Scrum Master role, facilitating agile ceremonies and driving team performance
- Experience as a Project or Program Manager, with a recognized qualification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
- Proven track record in delivering high-impact automation solutions, including RPA, AI-driven workflows, or intelligent process automation
- Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments, with familiarity in frameworks such as Scrum, SAFe, LeSS, or Spotify model
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the U.S. Health Insurance industry, particularly in areas such as claims adjudication, payments, and eligibility processes.
- Experience or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Formal training or practical experience in change management frameworks (e.g., PROSCI, ADKAR).
- Solid understanding of the SDLC, with hands-on experience in Agile delivery models.
- Awareness of trends and applications in AI, machine learning, and other emerging technologies, with the ability to assess their relevance and value in automation initiatives
Soft Skills:
- Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Team player with a collaborative approach and a history of contributing to high-performing, cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated success in managing client relationships and stakeholder expectations across cross-functional teams
- A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for emerging technologies, continuous improvement, and the ability to drive innovation within teams
