The Optum Ireland Automation Centre of Excellence is an established team that’s passionate about advanced process automation. We support the organization through the delivery of automation solutions, using existing, new and emerging technologies to enhance savings, improve productivity, quality and reduce cost
The Systems Business Analyst will be part of Automation Centre of Excellence and has a key role in designing automated solutions for existing business processes and supports redesigning processes in line with business requirements and the organisation’s digital strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Agile Collaboration & Backlog Refinement: Actively participate in backlog refinement sessions as part of the Scrum Feature Team, ensuring backlog items are clearly defined, meet the Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD), and reflect current business and technology priorities
- Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Elicit, analyze, and validate business requirements through close collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and technical feasibility
- User Story Development: Write and refine user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria, ensuring traceability to business objectives and readiness for development
- Solution Validation: Work with stakeholders to confirm that delivered solutions meet business needs and deliver measurable value
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with the Area Product Owner (APO) and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure a shared understanding across the team
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Support business SMEs in developing test scenarios and lead efforts in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Hypercare phases to ensure solution quality
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in regular inspect-and-adapt cycles to improve team practices, reduce waste, and enhance delivery effectiveness
- Agile Documentation: Maintain Agile artifacts using a “just enough, just in time” approach, ensuring all mandatory deliverables and sign-offs are stored appropriately
- Sprint Planning & Execution: Contribute to sprint planning and help define sprint goals that align with business priorities and team capacity
- Team Collaboration & Ownership: Collaborate within the Feature Team to self-organize, manage workload, and ensure sustainable delivery of high-value features
- Transparent Communication: Foster open, high-frequency communication to build trust, ensure alignment, and support successful delivery
- Technology Awareness: Stay informed on emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends to help identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in business processes

Required Qualifications:
- Experience as a Business Analyst, including at least working on automation, BPM, or process improvement initiatives
- Experience in business analysis, including requirements elicitation, documentation, and validation
- Practical experience in business process analysis and workflow optimization
- Experience working with end users to gather and refine business requirements
- Understanding of workflow-based logic and the ability to conceptualize process improvements
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Familiarity with financial services or insurance operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as UiPath or Blue Prism
- Knowledge of the U.S. Health Insurance industry, particularly in claims adjudication, payments, and eligibility
- Experience across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement
- Demonstrated interest in staying current with emerging technologies and digital transformation trends
Soft Skills:
- Communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to liaise effectively between business SMEs and technical teams
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, Agile environment
