The Principal Data Scientist within UHC Medicare & Retirement will continue to reimagine the foundational metrics and analytics surrounding star ratings at UHG, making them more actionable, transparent, accurate, and flexible. This role will integrate new relationships around the company, new data sources, and new methods/technologies along the way. Primary Responsibilities:

This role will continue to build new and enhance existing analytical products. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Build new and enhance existing analytical products, incorporating predictive modeling, prioritization, innovative reporting, and subject-matter expertise
  • Expand business use cases for the analytics model
  • Initiate and structure long-term and recurring projects
  • Integrate disparate data with health care and government policy knowledge to develop and communicate sound business recommendations to leaders throughout the organization
  • Collaborate across the organization, including IT, finance, product, clinical, and operations teams
  • Continually reevaluate and reimagine operational metrics and reporting
  • Translate highly complex concepts into understandable terms for various audiences, including senior leaders
  • Initiate and foster unique and innovative solutions and ideas

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in developing analytical solutions with large/complex data
  • 3+ years of experience communicating analytic results to stakeholders and demonstrated experience presenting to senior leaders
  • 2+ years of experience with Python
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Critical thinker: ability to evaluate merits of new and innovative ideas and make sound decisions 
  • Self-motivated and demonstrates an innate ability to absorb new concepts, technical frameworks, program paradigms while employing them creatively to solve complex analytical problems
  • Solid Relationship building skills with internal and practice teams to drive goal alignment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Medicare Advantage products or the healthcare industry
  • Experience with end-to-end product design
  • PySpark skills

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
