As a Senior Data  Engineer at Optum, you’ll working with data that drives Consumer Analytics focused on making decisions easier for members. Helping save members on healthcare costs. This team will be working on data transformation to enrich consumer data,, improve accuracy of predictive models, drive organizational efficiencies and save costs.

You will be work with a team that is focused on the integration of multiple complex data sources into our existing Azure big data platform using Modern Data Stack tools such as DBT-Core, Snowflake, Terraform, Python, Databricks among others.

You will be innovative, knowledgeable, and highly informed in the area of Data Engineering. You will have knowledge and experience of developing proofs of concept and products that are effective, cost-efficient and reflect industry best-practice. 

You will work closely with the product team to understand business needs and priorities. You will use innovation and teamwork to deliver on the business needs in an effective, efficient, and maintainable manner. You will be supported in this by Data Engineers, Data Modellers, Infrastructure Engineers, Product Managers and Business Analysts.

You will maintain, support, and enhance the friendly, open, honest, inquisitive and effective culture that is currently in place in the Data Engineering team.

Primary Responsibilities:

•    Work within a team of skilled data engineers
•    Develop stakeholder relationships
•    Design innovative and best in class Data Architectures that comply with enterprise standards
•    Contribute to the planning of  data project implementations
•    Develop data pipelines to ingest and transform data using clean coding principles
•    Partner with Product Managers to design data structures and pipelines that meet and exceed the goals for the product.

Required Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Database Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or similar
•    Data Architecture experience
•    Excellent understanding of Kimball, Data Vault
•    Excellent SQL
•    Excellent understanding of Relational Theory.
•    Excellent understanding of Column-Store RDBMS (Snowflake, Redshift, Vertica, Clickhouse)
•    Data Integration Techniques
•    Data Modelling Techniques
•    Experience using cloud database technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure)

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Exposure to demanding regulatory environments
•    Experience with Data Quality and Data Security process, tools, and technologies (Great Expectations etc.)
•    Good demonstrable skills in: Analysis, Verbal Communication, Written Communication, Organization, Strategy, Persuasion
•    Humane, Empathetic management style
•    Drive and Results orientation
•    Ability to learn fast; Team work and collaboration skills
