How will you leverage your programming expertise and your energy to help develop solutions to transform the health care industry?  As part of the Information Solutions Group within Employer and Individual Underwriting & Pricing, our mission is to provide the technical tools, subject matter expertise, and user support needed for underwriters and actuaries to accurately and efficiently produce appropriate health care rates and supporting exhibits for our small and large group clients.

Specifically, this position supports the ongoing development and maintenance of rating and renewal tools and providing data support for UHC Large Group commercial business.  In this role, you won’t just maintain existing tools-you’ll help reimagine them. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to explore new technologies, challenge the status quo, and bring fresh ideas to our evolving rating platforms. The position requires an understanding of the underwriting and data needs of the business, technology applications and alternatives, and relevant development and programming experience. The individual will play an active role, collaborating with business partners, to develop technical solutions that address new and evolving business needs, to support legacy UHC rating tools and monthly rating activities, and to support the long-term strategy for future rating platforms.  In addition, the individual will provide data support for rating and reporting purposes, helping to gather and analyze data, insure data integrity, and automate monthly processes. We’re looking for someone who has a solid technical and analytical background, who is highly organized and detail-oriented, and has the experience, creativity, and persistence to craft high-quality solutions. Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant development/programming experience 
  • General knowledge in health care and rating methodologies
  • Working proficiency with SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • Proven expertise working with MS Excel, MS Access, VB coding
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, with a strong understanding of both perspectives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 
  • Experience working in UW or Actuarial within the health care industry
  • Software development experience in the Visual Studio Environment
  • Familiarity with or interest in modern development tools and languages (e.g., Python, C#, cloud platforms, Git)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
