The Senior Specialty Pharmacy Account Manager is a hybrid focused on managing specialty relationships for assigned health plan clients. This position is crucial for the successful execution of specialty pharmacy programs, including their implementation, optimization, performance monitoring, and addressing client needs. Additionally, the role involves leading internal cross-functional projects and key initiatives across the regional health plan strategic partnership team.

This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages the day-to-day operational functions for assigned clients, including implementation/onboarding of new customers, handling escalated member/client concerns, benefit design setup and changes, product/program implementation, and other service delivery projects to maintain operational quality and client satisfaction
  • As the Strategic Partnerships Initiatives Leader, you will spearhead high-profile initiatives across our multi-disciplined team, driving strategic projects and ensuring their successful execution
  • Manages the day-to-day operational functions for multiple clients, including implementation/onboarding of new customers, handling escalated member/client concerns, benefit design setup and changes, product/program implementation, and other service delivery projects to maintain operational quality and client satisfaction
  • Serving as the primary liaison and relationship manager for assigned clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, and driving customer success
  • Assisting with the implementation of specialty pharmacy programs, including onboarding, insurance workflows, and system integrations
  • Coordinates readiness activities: monitors new products and group launches, conducts scenario testing, and facilitates daily progress updates with clients and internal partners
  • Works with the broader Account Team and Internal Business partners to maintain client action logs, track outstanding items, identify issues/trends, and determine corrective actions; participates in regular status discussions
  • Communicates OptumRx product benefits-operational, clinical, financial-to drive new program adoption
  • Tracking and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to specialty pharmacy programs, such as script capture rates, patient engagement, and financial performance
  • Identifying and resolving client issues, coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely and effective solutions
  • Providing support for clinical strategies and programs, including reviewing pharmacy data, providing recommendations, and assisting with clinical program development
  • Collaborating with various internal teams, including operations, pharmacy, IT, and clinical, to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Leads client presentations, implementation, and daily interactions

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in PBM client account management
  • 2+ years of PBM operations experience
  • 2+ years developing project plans, identifying cross functional project team members, organizing and hosting project cadence calls, developing project timelines, and driving projects through completion
  • Proficient with MS Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Willing to work with clients and colleagues across various time zones
  • Ability to potentially travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Certification
  • 3+ years of experience with upselling programs to clients 
  • 2+ years of experience supporting PBM Health plan clients
  • Advanced understanding of PBM industry
  • Familiarity with RxClaim; Tracker and/or Navigator

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
