The Principal Architect is a critical technical leader that works across product, business, and engineering teams to drive sound solution and product architecture, making decisions that directly impact the way products are built and delivered. Coordination between engineering leaders and product leaders and communication with stakeholders at all levels is a key aspect of the position. The Principal Architect ensures that product requirements are captured and translated into effective technical specifications and scalable solution designs and works directly, at times hands-on, with engineering teams to ensure on-time and successful development. Initiatives are enterprise level and the Principal Architect coordinates efforts across diverse engineering teams and communicates initiative designs, plans and status to Executive sponsors.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of complex, high-impact projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget
- Define and communicate technical strategies and architecture for our software solutions
- Collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications and architectural designs
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, ensuring that best practices and coding standards are followed
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and evaluate new technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve development processes and product quality
- Conduct architectural reviews and code reviews to ensure adherence to architectural principles and coding standards
- Ensure that all software solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in software architecture and development
- 5+ years of experience with .NET, C#, Python, or JavaScript
- 3+ years of experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- 3+ years of experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies
- 3+ years of experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- 3+ years of experience in creating concise and impactful product, engineering, and stakeholder presentation materials
- 1+ years of experience with AI technologies and their application in software solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data engineering and data science
- Proven experience in the healthcare industry
- Proven exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven solid programming skills in languages such as .NET, C#, Python, or JavaScript
- Proven excellent leadership and project management skills
- Proven solid problem-solving and analytical abilities

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
