As a Medicare Risk Adjustment Data Scientist, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the development and enhancement of new AI/ML applications related to Medicare risk adjustment as well as supporting existing data science applications which includes consolidating both technical and analytical skills

 

This position is for OI Clinical Solutions – Decision intelligence team and upon selection, you will be part of dynamic team working on developing and delivering Best in-class Analytics for end users. Your work will focus on understanding CMS Medicare Advantage business and developing best in-class AI/ML for OI Clinical Solutions – Decision Intelligence team according to Business/Technical requirements. Here are the key responsibilities, qualities and experience we will look for in an ideal candidate:

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interaction with key stakeholders and serve as data science contact/resource to support ongoing data exchange, analysis, reporting and interpretation of performance results; establish and maintain effective ongoing client relationships
  • Developing actionable insights and presenting recommendations for use across the internal/external stakeholder and leadership
  • Apply advanced Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML) capabilities to businesses to develop cutting edge innovative solutions
  • Leverage UHG’s big data analytics infrastructure comprising Python, HIVE, SPARK, Cloud to tackle previously unsolved problems across various lines of business within the company
  • Open to adopt new tools, technologies, and methodologies to ensure that the team stays at the frontier of Analytics
  • Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement
  • Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive and prescriptive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree from a renowned institute in: Engineering/Statistics/Economics/Computer Science/ Mathematics (with a solid quantitative background)
  • Around 2+ years of experience in Data Science, AI/ML, or a similar role
  • Solid theoretical and practical knowledge of some or most Machine learning techniques like Random Forest,
  • Support Vector Machine, Gradient Boosting Machine, XGBoost etc.
  • Expert level programming ability in Python/PySpark
  • Proven excellent consulting skills, including the ability to engage with and present to senior leaders as well as stakeholders with minimum to high analytics exposure across various departments in an organization
  • Proven excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
  • Solid theoretical and practical knowledge of some or most Deep Learning techniques across Recurrent Neural Networks, Convolutional Neural Networks etc.
  • Demonstrated hands on experience in using algorithm libraries / frameworks like PyTorch and / or TensorFlow
  • Good theoretical and practical knowledge around LLMs and Generative AI
  • Demonstrated hands on experience in solving real-world problems using Natural Language Processing (Text Classification, Sentiment Analysis, Summarization, NER etc.)
  • Tech Skills/Experience:
    • 2+ years of solid work experience with python, spark and HIVE and solid experience in developing AI/ML at scale using Python, Spark and HIVE
    • 2+ years of solid work experience in AI and ML algorithms
    • Solid theoretical and practical knowledge of some Deep Learning techniques
    • Good theoretical and practical knowledge around LLMs and Generative AI
    • Ability to convert Business requirements into technical requirements and ability to develop Best in class data science solutions

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain Experience:
    • Understanding of Medicare risk adjustment programs
    • Understanding of CMS datasets such as MMR/MOR/EDPS etc002E
