The VP of UHC E&I Pharmacy Product Strategy defines the Product Portfolio Strategy and Vision, plays the role of Product Evangelist externally and collaborates closely with the VP of Pharmacy Product Development/Management as the internal face of the portfolio. The VP of Product Strategy has a deep understanding of the business strategy and translates market trends and customer needs into a Product Strategy to support business growth and revenue goals across all commercial lines of business.
Additionally, this position will support the overall OptumRx relationship with UHC, inclusive of strategies to drive enterprise growth and identification of opportunities to better align organizationally.

Primary Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for development and execution of Pharmacy Product Strategy across all E&I lines of business. This includes working closely with business leadership, the broader E&I Product organization, UHC Pharmacy and OptumRx product and growth teams to develop the strategic vision for the product portfolio. The role reports to the E&I VP for Pharmacy Product and aligns closely with business leadership. Responsibilities include:

Ongoing development of a Strategic Roadmap for the portfolio, including New Product concepts, extensions of existing solutions

Synthesizing competitive analysis and market assessments to inform the product strategy, prioritize investments, and establish go-to-market strategies that capitalize on market trends, customer needs and competitive positioning

Clear understanding of the competitive landscape, including: competitor strategies, positioning, strengths and weaknesses

Market Intimacy to uncover market needs, including the development Product Advisory Councils for strategic planning

Constantly collects and analyzes performance data (e.g., market, financial, and operational) in order to identify new opportunities for the business

Engages key partners/clients for strategic discussions on market trend impact, current issues, and new product concepts

OptumRx relationship understanding and development to effectively align organizations to develop and execute against critical growth strategies and relationship objectives
Outputs

Forward Looking (2-3 Year) Product Strategies, establishing an organizationally aligned vision for the portfolio and path to the future (which markets to address, which capabilities to bring to market and prioritizes the investment). Aligns product strategy with the business strategy

Portfolio alignment across OptumRx and UHC

Portfolio Forecast – forecast volumes, market share, and revenue for portfolio

Product Investment model and business case for organic and M/A growth

OptumRx Balanced Scorecard – reviewed quarterly to evaluate progress against targets and objectively review the overall relationship

Required Qualifications:

7+ Years of experience managing a diverse product portfolio

Pharmacy product and PBM experience preferred
-
General Management experience preferred
-
Four-year degree in business or healthcare (or equivalent)

Knowledge of the end-to-end product development process – experience with requirements development, project management, and complex projects and activities

Business process experience is desirable

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $196,600 to $337,100 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
