The Senior DevOps Engineer  is a member of the DevOps Engineering Team and is responsible for the development and rollout of automated infrastructure-as-code and continuous delivery mechanisms which support Optum Rx – Specialty web and mobile applications, Pharmacy Microproducts, Optum Specialty Medication Management, and Specialty Infusion. solutions in cloud environments. Reporting to the Senior Manager, DevOps Engineering, you will work closely with application development and SRE teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions using no-code, low-code, and advanced platforms, translating business needs into scalable applications that enhance products, workflows and decision-making
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, including production-grade cluster setup, scaling, and monitoring
  • Provision and manage cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to enable consistent and automated deployments
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and other tools to automate build, test, and deployment workflows
  • Write automation scripts and tools using Shell, Python, PowerShell, and Perl, including custom utilities for deployment, monitoring, and reporting
  • Work with MySQL and NoSQL databases, automating schema changes, backups, and performance tuning through scripts and CI/CD integration
  • Collaborate in Agile environments, with a strong foundation in Test Driven Development (TDD) and web-based product development practices
  • Implement and maintain robust CI pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions, integrating automated testing, code quality checks, and deployment workflows
  • On call production support
  • Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure and processes

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 7+ years of experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and other tools
  • 7+ years of experience in implementing and maintaining CI pipelines with automated testing and deployment workflows
  • 7+ years of experience in deploying and managing containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
  • 6+ years of experience in provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure using Terraform
  • 5+ years of experience in writing automation scripts and tools using Shell, Python, PowerShell, and Perl
  • 5+ years of experience working with MySQL and NoSQL databases, automating schema changes, backups, and performance tuning
  • 5+ years of experience working in Agile environments with a strong foundation in TDD and web-based product development

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with network implementation, configuration, and monitoring
  • 2+ years of experience with API Gateway configuration and management
  • 2+ years of experience using DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing) and SAST (Static Application Security Testing) tools to identify and remediate vulnerabilities
  • 1+ years of experience in Java development for enterprise-grade applications
  • 1+ years of experience working with AI/ML technologies, including model deployment and integration into cloud-native applications
  • 1+ years of experience with React development
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as ELK Stack, Dynatrace, Splunk and Data dog is a plus
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written) to interact effectively with peers and stakeholders

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
